Omaha Joe
Hey all, just adding a couple progress pics of my begun, yet far from finished, Scout Trooper assembly. -Studio Creations helmet and armor -Boots made using Dickie’s brand work boot (and a handful of very helpful tutorials) still waiting on necessary components such as the flight suit and flak vest for sizing armor straps, CB sizing, and blaster for appropriate holster sizing, etc. again, far from completed, only wanted to post WIP photos, any suggestions are more than welcomed!! 👍🏼 1

f3tt4l1f3
Keep up the great work! I'm just north of you, in Sioux City. I'm currently about half way through my build. Maybe we'll troop together in the future!

Retrofire
NIce work on the boots Joe! Good on you for adding the sole cuts as well they look really great. Remember with the weathering that less is more and you don’t want to overwhelm your armor with it. Think about the areas where a scout would get a little dirty hopping through the forest. Keep up the great work and keep that CRL handy for reference: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Scout_trooper We’re here if you need us so keep posting those progress pics and give us a shoutout if you need anything! Thank you for the feedback; exactly the sort I was looking for, and thank you for the weathering suggestion which is why I opted for the acrylic/water mix - applying with rags and sponges to make any modifications prior to spray-fixing 👍🏼 thank you for the support, I’ll be posting more progress pics as they come available..! mickeymark34
Nice job on the weathering. What method did you use?

I honestly really like the airbrush/spray paint effect when it comes to weathering but as this is my first trooper kit of any kind, I went with a less permanent method. I just used black acrylic paint mixed about half and half with water, applied it with a sponge, and then dabbed off any excess (or parts I wanted to remain less weathered) with a clean sponge or a clean cloth. The acrylic/water mix allowed for full removal with a damp cloth in case I completely messed up, (did that a few times) and then sealed it with a spray can fixative after I got what I wanted 👍🏼

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thank you Dennis!! I’m a little late to the party, but having browsed through the vast majority of posted Lancer requests, as well as many many build tutorials, it’s cool to put faces with screen names (and real names)..!! Your Lancer WIP tutorial, among the other great ones out there, has helped me considerably..! Thank you for that and keep up the great work 👍🏼

Omaha Joe
Drawing a little inspiration from my unopened collectibles!! For some reason as a 6/7 year old kid I had the wherewithal to put these aside and not open them! And as childish as it may sound, I’m as giddy now to be building my own Scout armor, as I was standing wide-eyed in any toy store’s Star Wars section in the late 70s/early 80s... #stillakidatheart
Retrofire
I used to hang out at the Kenner display at the Children’s Palace in PA when I was a kid and wanted ALL of them. I went to a vintage market here in AZ recently and couldn’t believe my eyes when I found a Kenner Scout and Speeder Bike! Immediate purchase! I also had an opportunity to have a custom one made just for me. It’s sits with my vintage Kenner. Your collection is spectacular and all new in box too! That’s amazing!

What’s even more amazing is that you managed as a 6/7 year old to somehow not open them. Now that’s discipline brother!

Omaha Joe
BIG shout out to Ukswrath’s Scout Helmet Audio System that arrived yesterday!!! Looks and sounds AWESOME!!! Will be following the installation instructions to a T, but with a little nip ‘n tuck and a matching paint job, I just cranked my bucket up a notch..! (pun intended)
Aradun
Looks great Joe. I’m interested in seeing your install process, as this audio system is on my list of add-ons down the pike. It looks from the side by side you provided that you need to trim your original snout piece to attach the new mic equipped snout. BTW...nice weathering on your bucket.
