Whiskey
Starting a new WIP thread for my Pre-Pro scout. Criteria....so far Clean High Gloss White Ferrari paint Helmet and armor to match (yep, I’m going there) Thigh armor Holster Straps (no Rivets) No top knee strap - also no rivets Thermal Detonator optional based on image Barcode with some short lines belt boxes at the 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock no tank stripes Will need to get new boots covers, cummerbund , pouches, and cod. I’m going to keep the flightsuit, Sierra boots, and gloves the same. Will need to purchase a new helmet kit and armor. Hopefully I can talk RS into sending an armor kit or get a Strider kit Trying on the thigh armor Thanks to Lonewolf, I have two sets. These look so good, I may just dirty this set just to add to my Dirty Scout on occasion.

spyder918
Hey Edward, Let me know if you need paint for your helmet. A few months ago I was going to paint my RS helmet myself and so I custom ordered 3 cans of the '98 Ferrari 355 Bianco Avus white color from Automotive Touchup. Well I found someone who will do it for me and now I have all these cans sitting here with no use. Let me know if you need them. I don't live very far from you either.

Whiskey
My 4th pair. Seller accepted my offer. 😁 Going to be a little loose, but that’s ok. Now I won’t have to remove the leather from my current boots

Whiskey
Looking at options for that shine that matches the holster on the boots. So I’m going to experiment with the extra material from my snowtrooper cowl. I plan on adhering over 5/6 oz leather, then following up with sewing See the wrinkle in blue and how you can see the shape of the tab on top of the boots? Im kinda thinking they did the same thing (pay no attention to the yellow, I was pointing out that the boots are the same as in the MOM display)

Chopper
Whiskey, are you saying that the shoe coverings were made of the same material as the snowie cowl?

That’s just a thought...but sounds reasonable. I’ve been wrong lots of times 🤣 in order to see that tab impression, the material has got to be really thin. Im thinking there’s leather for stability. Then added a tab. Then covered with snowtrooper cowl material
Chopper
I know that the original snowie cowl material is similar to the cape material that they used for the old vader/obi wan kenner action figures. Just seems like that would be a lot of work for the prop department to do for a part of the costume that didn't get a whole lot of camera time.

Agreed, but same thing can be said about creating several elaborate costumes for the dignitaries with less than 10 sec of screen time 😉

Chris at BF found something super close to what was actually used for cowl. It's super thin. Very, very thin. We doubled up ours for our cowls. I cant see it being used on boots. I see it being almost impossible to cover boots with.

Interesting material, but yeah, I can't see covering boots with the stuff.
Whiskey
Stroker, I believe it would be this. I still have a full roll Again, I’m just experimenting 👍🏼 I’m looking at this, I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. Same material draped over leather. Maybe I’ll try it out on my sons (WTF KIDS SCOUT)
Stroker
Not saying it cant be done, but its gonna be a nightmare for sure. Getting it to look correct is the problem. I had problems getting it on my snowie helmet. If you do it please post pictures of it.

Incredibly hard to find though...

He describes the process for smoothing the grain out of the leather. He did a great job if you didn't catch his post last week. It's worth a look. I for one would never have thought to look at furniture leather. Tandy doesn't carry white leather aside from the real thin deer skin, which won't hold up well to trooping. Apparently the process to get the leather white is difficult and costly according to a buddy of mine who is a leather worker that works for Tandy. I'm sure Sven would provide you with the seller's info on ebay if you were interested.
