How many scouts have made the wire-wrapped tubes? Is it possible to commission one? If I can't commission one, what parts do I need to build one, myself?

Most of us built it ourselves. Not that hard at all. Here's a link with the parts needed and a how to.

Here's a couple of pictures of mine.

What brand or color gray spray paint is recommended for this tube?

A light gray. There's a bunch of different brands you could use. It's up to you. I used a cheap primer on mine.

What sheen? All of the light gray spray paints I can find are either flat or full gloss.

I used Rust-Oleum automotive primer on mine. And the wire was extra clothes line I had around.IMG_20200329_135537631_zpsgnnl2bkr.jpg
