Pituitor Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I figured I should make somewhere to keep track of my first Scout Trooper build. Just started with the soft parts that I am making, the cumberbund, pouches, and cod piece. I will buy the under suit to modify when my next paycheck comes. 1
Pituitor Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 I got a little mixed up when sewing the ribs on the cumberbund, so the back velcro isn't as centered as I would like. I will probably sew a new one eventually, but this will do for now.
Pituitor Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 Pouches took some trial and error, but they all ended up the correct dimensions (6x5x2 with a 2' tab at the top which velcros to the cumberbund) Please let me know if you have any tips or if anything looks out of place! 2
Pituitor Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 The cod piece looks a bit silly without the belt under the cumberbund, but I am trying to get as much completed as I can while I save up enough to order the Studio Creations armor kit.
BikerScout007 Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Bund and pouches look good! Codpiece looks too narrow, though. You wants something a little fuller
Pituitor Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 Per @BikerScout007 suggestion I have remade a wider cod piece! 3
BikerScout007 Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Much better! Can't wait to see it with all the armor. 1
Pituitor Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 Mostly finished the Flak vest, just need to sew on the 2" black velcro (it's pinned in the photo). Used the T-shirt method and learned that stretchy fabrics are a lot harder to work with the duck cloth! Once I finish the hard armor I will make the final adjustments to the sleeve length. Hopefully work pays out our bonuses in February so I can put in my order for armor! As always please let me know if something looks like it needs fixing!! 1
Pituitor Posted February 10, 2020 Author Posted February 10, 2020 Working on finishing the under suit mods. I will follow up with photos when i have them. Its been kind of slow going with this helper trying to get involved any chance he can. 2
oneredstar Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I have a shoulder perching assistant as I work sometimes too. 1
Retrofire Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Heh heh Cats and Scouts go well together... 2

Pituitor Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 I'm about done with the riding patches (not the butt flap yet) but I'm concerned about the angle in the top of the patches. Should the corners be rounder to match closer with the reference photos?
Pituitor Posted February 17, 2020 Author Posted February 17, 2020 Finished most of the flight suit modifications, just need to add the butt flap (I ran out of suede redoing the patches). But other than that it's now just a waiting game until I can order my armor. 1
Pituitor Posted February 27, 2020 Author Posted February 27, 2020 My order has officially been placed to Studio Creations for the Trimmed Armor and Helmet kit. Getting antsy to getting started on the hard armor! 😀 2
Pituitor Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 Alright, just in time to be locked down inside, my armor has arrived! Earlier than I was expecting. I have finished the straps for the arm pieces, but I wanted to get some feed back regarding the position of the chest armor before I made the terrifying first cuts. Please let me know if this looks ok! Thank you for all the help!
BikerScout007 Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 It looks like it's a good fit. You'll need to snip off some of the shoulder strap so they dont overlap. They should abut, but not overlap. Try it on with your soft goods so you can really see how it's going to fit though!
Pituitor Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 @BikerScout007 Good idea, I will throw on my under suit and vest and test it out.

And remember you can have a lot of free play on the side straps. You don't need the armor to close up tight like a clam shell. The chest straps should be long enough to allow the armor to open up when you are changing positions, like jumping on your speeder bike! 1
Harbinger Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Looking good so far, can't wait for my soft goods to arrive. 1

Oh thank you for the reminder. I hadn't thought about that! 😳 1
Pituitor Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 With all this time at home I have made a lot of progress. I was hoping to get some feedback regarding armor placement in case I need to shift anything, I think I might need to make shorter pouches or do I just need to move the chest armor/Belt? I apologize for the photo not being completely straight on, I was alone trying to take them on a timer.
Stroker Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 The SC chest is a little longer than the screen used ones. That's the reason the pouches are over lapping the belt a bit. What size are your pouches? Good job! It's looking great!

Ah that makes sense, I think I remember reading that in a thread about SC armor and just hoped my height would counter it! I used a template I found here, the pouches are 6 inches tall with a 2 inch tab which attaches to the bund. The cumberbund is 8 inches tall to account for the total height of the pouches. 1
