Butt flap question

Looking at adding the flap to my costume, going to need it to get out of retired status...

Is it attached directly to the flight suit? I've seen a few bikers attach it to the cummerbund. Is that acceptable?

Also I know the size will vary from scout to scout, but is there a base size out there for the suede? All I see mentioned on the CRL is " but correct scale must be noted; no external visible stitching."

I kinda like that idea. I pull my bund up and my flap always gets stuck in back. I seem to be the only one who pulls it up lol.

Definitely check out the link Stroker noted above.  It’s well done.

My question isn’t so much on the dimensions, but the “no external visible stitching”.  Am I correct in assuming that the pigskin is just cut squarish with unfinished edges, and if so how does one attach it to the undersuit if no external stitching is permitted to be visible?  Things that make you go Hmmmm.

I think this used to be an issue back in the day and that's why it's in the CRL.  The edge that gets stitched to the undersuit isn't seen because it's covered by the bund.

Ahh.  That makes perfect sense.  I completely forgot about the bund b/c it’s not usually included in photos dealing with the undersuit and flap.  I was having a hard time seeing any stitching along the top seam in your Undersuit Mods photos making me think it was a Jedi mind trick.  Mystery solved 😉.

If you sew it into the waist seam of the suit, you will see no stitching. It is on the inside of the suit 😄
