spyder918 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 So sick..wow, thanks for sharing. Interesting to see the black on the snout is inside the edges and doesn't bleed over onto the edges. 2

Wouldn't be surprised if that was simply due to a rush paint job... or someone didn't feel like masking that top curve, ha!
Chopper Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Yep, its been done both ways. After all, what prop maker in 82 would have thought people would be scrutinizing hi def images of their paint jobs? Thanks Whiskey for the photos. 1
BikerScout007 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Seems pretty likely that the paint spilling out over the edge is the mistake and not vice versa. Looks like the screen used snout areas have their sides angled to a degree where it's easy to see the black even if it doesn't go over the top. Some of the fan made helmets don't. Like KS for example.
Chopper Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Small details, but when I get back home, I can always take a look at the images I have of different screen used scout helmets and see which variety is more common. 3

I don't have any evidence to back up my assertion, just a feeling I always had. "Why would they bring the black out to this arbitrary point when it's so much easier to paint just up to the edge?" 1 1
Whiskey Posted January 11, 2020 Author Posted January 11, 2020 Added a few more. Still looking to add more
