What’s your experience with kropserkal helmets?

Recommended Posts

I've heard some more recent issues about their pulls being soft. The ones I've seen in my garrison were a few years old but they looked ok. The KS helmet is slightly larger than the SC helmet and uses a similar construction. It's reasonably accurate enough, though the Lone Wolf and RS helmets are both more accurate.

If you go that way, get the kit. If you buy it assembled from KS, they'll use 3M tape to pit it together, which is not an ideal construction method.

Not my first choice by any means but made the cardinal sin and purchased a helmet I thought was good and was complete trash and lost all that extra cash so I’m kinda in the middle of being disgusted and wanting to quite my scout build and rushing to search for a replacement so I don’t loose my mojo to do the build and at the same time with a significant lesser budget because of the garbage I purchased. So yeah not in a good place right now lol.

I paid extra for them to send it assembled  it wasn't perfect with quite a number of flaws, folding and bends.

I have since purchased a SC love it.

My old KS helmet my son was wearing is now yellow...pretty much useless. So yeah a lesson learned

I still have my KS bucket. It's 10 years old having been worn for over 100 troops. It's yellowed, but so has my MC armour which is older.

It's a decent kit for the price, but if you're willing to do some more work, you can get a nicer one.

Also, mine's held together with the 3m indoor/outdoor tape and it's fine. It's held for 10 years, no problemo. ;)

I was just about to say... my first bucket was an assembled KS.  I had no idea it was held together with 3M tape until I watched Scott's how-to video.  I only wore it for 2 years but it was fine.  It's not the neatest helmet out there, but it's relatively good on accuracy, good for big heads and is very affordable.

Now the rest of KS's armor?  Uh.....no.

I bet you got a hold of one of CB's hips helmets? It's hard to put together, but it's a nice helmet once finished. Hips is harder to work with than abs. I really hope you didn't trash it man.

It was. I decided to pull it out the trash. Yes it really was in my trash can. I began to rework it and fill the cracks in the plastic and the holes ect. Devcon plastic weld is now my best friend. I redid the inner Skelton to strengthen it aswell. This is after some sanding and first coat of filler primer to see we’re I have to work next on. I think I may be able to actually get this to look half way decent.

Indeed! That's super nice helmet when it's done! Fill, sand, repeat.  Your halfway there! Keep it up!

Working on it some more. Almost have all the blemishes fixed. Were all the joint lines smooth on the screen used helmetS?

Like most of star wars especially empire and jedi the costumes were rough. My lone wolf helmet isn't perfect nor is my RS,but nither was the film used helmets.

So when I paint the helmet should I put a coat of clear on it? I am going with rustoleum 2x ultra cover gloss white

If you're using gloss already, no. Not necessary.

I'd let it gas out for about a week before I did that. Check this link

Hmm I would be worried that tape would peel off the paint. I have a pretty steady hand use to be an art major. I may try to free hand it to have more control.
