I prefer a hard hat liner over foam. More airflow around your head, and the helmet follows your head movement much better than foam in my opinion.

My 850 armor kit doesn’t have the circle recess on top of the back plate. Any recommendations on how to accommodate that?

I think I would look for a bottle cap or similar with the correct diameter (check ref pics and compare it with the size of the top). Then make a hole and glue the cap underneath. The inside of the cap must be (made) smooth of course. Other options are cutting a small piece from a plastic pipe and a piece of plastic to close the bottom.

I ended up using that exact method with a bottle cap. Drilled a hole big enough and smoothed it out then used gorilla epoxy to hold it in there on the underside.

So in my haste (regretfully) I did not use the calf cover strips on the back of my armor and have used dap rapid fuse to put the straps on. I’m shooting for level one approval and I’m a little overwhelmed on this part. What should I do?

Helmet has been painted for about 2 months. Just needs weathering and lenses.

The line going down the cheek should be Sahara beige.  You just need to add some black wash or whatever to it later to make it look dirty.

Also it looks like your snout piece doesn't have the lip around it.  Yours looks more like a Scout trooper snout.  You can see what I mean here:

I will do that with the lines on that for sure. Thank you for that. The snout was made by 850armorworks didn’t come with the lip around it.

So a black wash on the entire helmet and around the tears will make the prominent black not so prominent?

No , you need to paint those black lines out with sharia beige, them the wash takes care of the subtle look

Alrighty thank y’all for that.

For my very first build I’m pretty satisfied!! All that’s left is lenses for the bucket, clear coat, and strapping.
Soft parts are expected for next month

I’m very excited to get approved!
