Best Biker scout helmet for medium sized head

Recommended Posts

New to scouts and am wanting to make sure I get the right bucket for my head. When I built my tk I went with ata because they have a bucket on the smaller size my head circumference is 21-21.5 inches. Any help would be appreciated thank you

With a 21.5" head circumference, pretty much any scout helmet will fit.

Of the available helmets, the SC helmet is the smallest. The Altmann and Kriptontop helmets are the largest.

The RS props and Lonewolf helmets are about in the middle in terms of sizes.

Hope that helps. Let us know if you have further questions.

So should I stay away from Altman since it’s considered one of the bigger? I like the detail on Altman but if it does not fit good then the look means nothing. lol

For you I'd go SC or MonCal

I have read good things about both.

FYI, MonCal offers their products in runs, so you'd have to check with them as to when their next scheduled run is.

SC has a pretty quick turnaround, esp if you're ordering the unassembled kit.

I have a smaller size head but my Altman bucket fits me just fine. I dont swim in it or anything like that. If you have a medium sized noggin and body frame, the Altman is Probably gonna be fine.  There are other options however, such as the RS and MonCAL and evening the studio creations.

With head size set aside, your body frame, height and shoulder size plays a part in how your bucket looks on you as well. I have broader shoulders so my Altman bucket looks fine for my frame (IMO) If you have a small sizeD frame and are very thin, then the Altman may look a little big on you.

I am about 5’6” 158lbs shoulders are pretty broad for my height. I know with the tk you can pretty much size any helmet up or down during the build but not with the scout. Thus is my dilemma and hunt for research.

I know some scouts in the Florida Garrison, though not necessarily in your squad. Perhaps you could try some of theirs on, or you could get in touch with scouts closer to you?

@Barber? @PhinScout?

Hey man! Glad to see we are adding more scouts in Florida!

Phinscout and I are Tampa Bay Sqaud. The bucket I use is an Altmann and love it. It's pretty well put together. I like my helmets to sit tight around my head so I have padded out the inside of the helmet. I live up in Wesley Chapel, but take regular trips over to Disney so we can always meet up for you to try it on sometime. Hit me up on Facebook messenger if you want to do that. That's the easiest way to get ahold of me.

I believe Phin uses a full Chef kit. Not 100% positive on that. He's a great scout out of the Lakeland area.

Bottom line, with a medium sized head you're going to be fine with pretty much any helmet out there.
