MrPoopie Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Printing directly on the buildplate or with a raft? Quote
Koenig Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Looks to me like it's not sitting on the build plate Quote

VigilantWookiee Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 The snout. This is my first time running anything with ABS, so I wanted to start a small piece first. Quote

Expand That from Jesus's helmet files? If so I noticed today when I made mine it's not flat on the bottom so it prints funny a bit. Quote
MrPoopie Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Not self promotion. My snout is flat on the bottom, try that and let me know how it goes. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1i7ki1s5h8quogf/AADIm8Kx7B2JOC2cN0QMbyQwa?dl=0 Quote
VigilantWookiee Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Still working on getting it to print correctly, but had a question. Is PLA a reasonable option? I'm a lot more familiar printing objects with it. I ask because if I continue to have issues with the ABS I'd like to switch merely to avoid complete frustration. Thanks for your input! Quote
MrPoopie Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 PLA is an option but it will not take the heat outside like ABS will. If you live somewhere hot or plan on trooping in direct sunlight you may see warping unless you coat your prints with a resin finish of some kind. The other thing you may run into is that PLA is notoriously difficult to sand properly and finish with leaving print lines. It's not impossible but you need to do some research about properly finishing and sealing PLA prints. Quote

Expand My Scout is make completely from PLA+. Prints like pla but stronger like abs. I make most of my props from it unless it will be under serious abuse then I switch to something else. That said I know abs can be tricky especially if you don't have an enclosed printer as the heat won't stay even. But short answer yes the right PLA and proper finish work as MrPoopie stated and it can be done. 2 Quote
Koenig Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Ok so I got my kingshow boots a week ago in the size I normally wear but they seem a bit tight. Now normally that's fine I'd just break them in quick but if I do that I don't think I'll be able to use them for scouts boots. Was anyone else's boots a bit tight a first? Quote
Aradun Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Not tight, but snug. I wore them around the house for two days to loosen them up a bit. You’ll want to do this anyway so that you don’t have sore feet the first time you troop in them, especially if they are tight on you. As long as you’re not out and about beating them up they’ll be fine to work with.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
