Fabric glue for Velcro

It may have been discussed before but I did a search and couldn’t find it. To prevent the armor from slipping on shoulders, arms, etc have any of you used fabric glue on jumpsuit to keep armor in place? I purchased Velcro from fabric store (non stick kind) and that’s what I’m considering. I know sewing is also an option but I wanted to see how glue turned out if anyone used it. Thanks.

Given how often you'll be putting on/ taking off your armor, I would recommend sewing the velcro on. The glue may hold temporarily, but it will likely come off. Sewing is the best long term solution. 

 

[Stroker]

I know of one scout who used E6000 on the Velcro for his knees. He went through a couple of different glues and eventually just sewed the velcro. Someone else might have some more info on glue.

Chopper and Stroker are right. I've been down the glue path and trust me it's better to sew it on. Fabric glue is a good thing to have in your emergency armor repair kit for troops but it's really not a good long term solution.

Me too.  In my desperation to avoid sewing them I tried Liquid Stitch and Fabric Fusion for velcro attachment points on my suit and webbing.  Both products simply don't work on velcro (IMO they don't work very well on fabric to fabric either).  My guess is that they are made to get into and penetrate the fibers of fabrics to create a decent bond... whereas the velcro usually has a smoother plastic backing of some sort that those adhesives just can't bite into.  Oh, and both of those products take eons to dry.
