My first TB build

Hey all!

I’m Bella (mtf) (she/her) and i’m embarking on my first scout build! 

 

I got my kit from Juanma of Lowcost Armours and i’m about half way through it. I’ve got my whole album up on my Facebook page, as I can only upload it to a certain size here!

Never heard of Low Cost Armours so I don't have an opinion on them.  I'd have to see the whole kit.

However, your forearm armor is on upside down, so let's get that switched up!

Hmm, it looks like recast Studio Creations armor.  It's not the best looking set I've ever seen, but it's workable for basic approval.  

You have a lot of good scouts in the UKG.  Definitely get signed up on the forum there so you can get some local help as well as what we have to offer you here!

Okay so let’s start on what I’ve not posted.

The Belt:

So the belt was quite tricky.

It posed a challenge, as I’d not done anything like this, so it was a lot of trial and error getting everything sitting right. A lot of cutting back, a little heat forming here and there. Eventually everything sat on the belt just fine, so I got the armour riveted through the belt and sorted the first of a few of a few challenges.

The second part was the belt itself. Ordered off Amazon. I opted to rivet the back of the belt on the inner loop, so that you don’t actually see it at all, this meant it would hold a little more securely when everything was together.

Then there came the boxes. An awful lot of reference photos used. I opted to go high and tight with the boxes, as seen in the CRL photos.

Now I have a weird sense of deja-vu with the belt, as I remember another trooper telling me that my weathering was a little overkill. I unfortunately don’t remember who it was, but your advice was heard! I cut it back harder than my carb intake.

Cummerbund and Flak Vest:

Ordered from Twin Suns Textiles to basic approval standards, for £130, I got my flak vest, Cummerbund, and pouches. Though they’re going to need to get a little grubby!

Owen’s Troopers.

Did I mention I was part of Joker Squad?

So one of their guys, Mr. Morrison (The Sandy) has set up a smaller costume group known as Owen’s Troopers. Owen was Mr. Morrison’s late son, since his passing, a small group was formed in his honour, that raise for the Thomas Fund, who I’m told helped Mr. Morrison and his son.

There wasn’t a massive push on accuracy within the group, it’s more focused on raising for that charity. This helped me with my Scout a lot, as it allowed me not only to raise money for charity, but also to figure out what was working, what wasn’t with my kit. So costume adjustments were made as problems arose.

Due to the adjustments made during a few of these troops, I did an MCM weekend, which I was honestly dreading. However, I made it through the con with my kit in one piece.

LNYDP 2020

For anyone that tuned into this on Jan 1st, 2020; I took part with a plethora of costumed characters, under the Heroes For Charity, run by Mr. C Hopcroft. This is a yearly event and usually gathers quite the crowd.

This event ensured that my kit could withstand long distance marches and a variety of movements. Predominantly my upper arms. This went without a hitch, as nothing came loose, nothing went “snap”.

I’ve got a few things left to do on this kit:

Accurate boots
Accurate flight suit

And that should be about it.

Thanks trooper! You’re the second person to mention this! I figured this was as close as I could get it. In case I got it a touch out of place, I lined the inside of the chest plate with Velcro, and sewed some onto my pouches, so these were easily adjustable if something went wrong.
