Pouch attachment questions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I’m about to start the process of sewing my pouches and wanted to know what the opinion is on the best way for attachment to the cummerbund? Is it attached with Velcro? And if so where at on the back of the pouch, behind the attachment tab or on the main part of the pouch towards the middle?

Yep yep. Here's how mine is set up -- they're attached with velcro on the top tab of the pouch, and attach to the top of the bund.

Optional, you can also sew a small square of velcro to the pack of the pouch and bund, which keeps them from flopping around all over the place. Up to you though.

I think this boils down to how you want it to fit.  So engineer it for what works best for you.  I made my bund in such a way that 2" of it tucks underneath my chest/back armor.  So I put 2" velcro for the pouches on the front of the bund with corresponding velcro on the pouch attachment flaps.  The opposite side of my bund has 2" velcro as well with corresponding velcro on the undersuit.  This keeps it from slipping down from underneath the armor without the need for any other kind of suspension system.

I’ve attached mine with both said methods above. (under the armor with Velcro and sewn/velcrowed directly to the bund). I like the sewn method much better. I had another scout help align them up before sewing them on.
