WIP to Approved

I meant to start a WIP thread but was so busy building that I hardly stopped to take photos!

So I'll start a thread now and add what pictures I did take. Starting with Big Brown Box day and first troop! I received a BSP kit in January and was approved by the end of March. The helmet and E-22 are Sean Field's design printed and built by me. Had a blast building this kit, it was worth the effort!

One of the hardest parts was fitting the torso together with the belt. I spent ages measuring and trying it on while it was held together with gaffer's tape.

These are Mr. Paul's faulds armour which I highly recommend!

And ta-da...some shots my friend took. The pants are not black, I swear! I got a friend to make some for my basic approval and in these photos they came out a lot darker than they actually are.

The blaster received more love later and some things were tightened up and others were dirtied up. So much more I want to improve but I guess that's something we all struggle with.

Congrats!

How is the diagonal strip connected that joins the ab and kidney sections together? The BSP kit had an extra step there that needs to be removed. Did they fix that yet?

No, unfortunately BSP is still wrong. I trimmed the back return edge off so it would be almost flush with the abs and bondo/sanded it smooth. It uses the ridge in the middle of the ab connector at the step. You can see it in this shot:

I read on BSP's FB page that they won't fix the double stripe because it can be trimmed off. I am guessing it is too costly to make a new mold.

I guess so. They use metal CNC moulds and interest is probably not big enough anymore to recover the costs for a new mould.

Some people trim it off but from what I've seen to do that properly you have to be really thin to join the ab sections together or you need to extend them somehow.

Others have just filled in the step with bondo but the proportions look off to me.

I trimmed mine off and then shimmed it at the same time to make up for the lost width.
