Greg S Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 All right got my Shore Trooper Helmet from KB Props. jsin_props on ig. It’s a resin helmet. Time to get this build going. 2
Greg S Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 Got the dremel work done on the visor area and other parts. Sanding and filler is next. My favorite prep work. 1
Greg S Posted June 8, 2019 Author Posted June 8, 2019 Got a lot a sanding done. Filled some bubbles and low spots with some glazing bondo. Still have a few more to do after this dry really good.
Greg S Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 Got my hard hat liner installed. Used the harness and clips from a old hardhat. Cut out the clips and epoxied them in.
Greg S Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 Finally got the prep and sanding done. Spayed on the primer layer. 1
Greg S Posted June 21, 2019 Author Posted June 21, 2019 So was unhappy with the first primer coats. I sanded the helmet down and sprayed a different primer. So much better. 2
Greg S Posted June 22, 2019 Author Posted June 22, 2019 All right I sprayed the dark brown layer as per Mr. Paul's Shore Trooper build. He's had found out that the original casts were a brown resin. which is visible showing underneath the Beige in a lot of the reference pictures. He used Halfords Ford Rio Brown. I used a Rustoleum Satin Espresso. Which is a newly exact match. 2
Greg S Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 Applied some masking tape and some Humbrol masking fluid for some damage areas. And sprayed the Montana Gold Sahara Beige. 1
Greg S Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Installed the snout and heatsinks. Painted some of the black areas. Glued on the visor. Going to let the clamps set for 24 hours.
Greg S Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Made a color mix for the emblem. A Humbrol red and Orange. Looks pretty close. Per Mr. Paul it's a Orange. Spicy Orange.
Greg S Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 Finished all the black details. And airbrushed the emblem on the visor. Next onto the weathering.
xEntex4 Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Hey, it looks like you made the "eyebags" beige as well from what I know they are supposed to be black. Also I believe there are supposed to be to black recesses on the back lower "lip", I dont know about how important they are to be approved but you might want to try and add them. 1

Yes sir I still have to paint those eyebags or teardrops black. As for the two black recesses they are there. Helmet is tilted a bit so you can't see them. I will update a back pic so they show. Thanks.
xEntex4 Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 ok, justr didnt want you to build the entire armor and then relize that you cant be approved 😅
Greg S Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 Got the weathering done. Used some sandpaper to make some skuff marks. Used some acrylic paints. Black, burnt umber, charcoal mixed with some windex. Also used a 3M pad to tone some areas back. 1st pic is before weathering and some of the supplies.
Greg S Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 Installed the visor finally. I broke the first one heating it up. So I picked up a curved motorcycle helmet visor and cut it down. Installed it with some Chicago screws and hot glued the edges. Just need the chin cup and straps now.
ScaryGuy Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Good progress! When applying the black wash I recommend to dab it dry instead of wiping it off. Otherwise you can see the direction in which you wiped it off. This will give it more of a greased up look than weathered. I use a lot of paper towels to get the excess wash off. 2

Greg S Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Also received my boots from Arsmoor. They are so nice. Time to trash them.
Greg S Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 I got the base coat on some Dark Walnut. Going to let this dry for a couple days. Then start on the Montana Gold paints. 2
Greg S Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Got the Sarah Beige down on these pieces today. Need to let them cure for several days before weathering and painting the other colors. 1
