BikerScout007 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Hey Pathfinders! We have gone through this portion of the CRL and have made some revisions to the language. Mainly around materials and the connection of the codpiece for Level 2. Please give it a read: Cummerbund, Codpiece and Pouches Made from white fabric and may be lightly weathered. Closes in back with 50mm (2") hook and loop fastener. Closure is right-over-left. Extends from just under the chest armor down to the belt. Front of cummerbund has 5 ribs of equal width made of 6 vertical stitch lines, centered between the two fabric pouches. Tapered codpiece has a sewn inverted curve detail. Black elastic strap connects codpiece between the legs to either the back of the cummerbund or the flak vest. Pouches are white or off-white. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Cummerbund Made of smooth white cotton fabric Polished cotton or mercerized cotton is preferred. Canvas or duck cloth is not permitted. The cummerbund is separate from the flight suit and vest. Cummerbund ribs are 1 inch wide. No visible external edge stitching. Pouches Made of canvas-type material (e.g., duck cloth) Pouch size is ideally 6 inches high, 5 inches wide and 2 inches deep. Bottom edge of the pouch flap is between 2 and 2.5 inches in width. Pouches have an attachment tab of at least 2 inches high to attach to the cummerbund. Pouch attachment tab is same width as the pouch (5 inches). Pouches have appearance of being affixed to the cummerbund by the attachment tabs as per the originals. Pouches sit approximately 1 inch from the outermost cummerbund rib on each side. Codpiece Made of the same cotton fabric as the cummerbund Elastic strap is 50mm (2 inches). Codpiece and sewn curve conforms to shape pictured in the CRL or Costumes book. Codpiece does not bunch excessively around groin area. Codpiece attaches under the cummerbund either to the vest, the undersuit or the backside of the cummerbund. The codpiece is NOT sewn to the bottom edge of the cummerbund. The main takeaways here are that the materials for the Cummerbund and Codpiece should be different than the materials for the pouches. In the "Beyond the Armor" book, it specifically states that the Cummerbund and Codpiece are made of polished cotton, while the pouches are made of canvas. We understand polished cotton is very hard to get these days, so we just ask that you use a smooth white cotton fabric. While your pouches should be a canvas material, such as duck cloth. Also the codpiece can no longer attach to the bottom edge of the cummerbund for Level 2. It would just be impossible to achieve the look below if it was: The codpiece should be attached behind the cummerbund in some way. We describe some methods in the Level 2 CRL. 13

There was only a modest change to the L1 language and that was to combine the first two bullet points: Cummerbund, Codpiece and Pouches White and may be lightly weathered. Made from matte white cotton fabric and may be lightly weathered. Closes in back with 50mm (2") hook and loop fastener. Closure is right-over-left. Extends from just under the chest armor down to the belt. Front of cummerbund has 6 vertical stitch lines, centered between the two fabric pouches, producing 5 raised ribs of equal width. Tapered codpiece has a sewn inverted curve detail. Connects between the legs to either the back of the cummerbund or the flak vest by a black elastic strap. Pouches are white or off-white.
