Hi,

Working on a build that doesn't break the bank. Considering KB Props (700 Armor and Helmet) or 850 Armor Work (490 Armor and Helmet) are these worth the cost savings? Or do they require too much effort to mod for approval and thus make it worth the extra money to order from say BSP or Imperial Surplus. Thoughts from anyone who got approval using these would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Personally, I'm not one to trade quality for savings.  You always end up spending more in the end (or maybe I do).  But it is possible to achieve even Vanguard with an 850v2 kit, as our @Spudley7 has done:

As Micky says even with 850 armour Vanguard can be achieved , but I know Paul the guy who achieved this very well and believe me he spent more and spent a hell of a lot of working hours to get it there.
Ask him would he do it again and the answer would be NO he would just buy a better kit. In fact although Paul achieved Vanguard he is actually making another Shoretrooper and printing it all himself as he is still not totally happy with his kit.

The answer is simple , You get what you pay for ;)

Like Paul I have the 850 v2 but went Tank Driver rather than Shore Trooper. Kits easy to work with however does need alot of mods. Ive reprinted most of the kit on my printer as the pulls are not that sharp as you can see on this chest plate2a6a7e6e1e517b676b4775f07a775810.jpg

Thanks for the thoughts. I thought I heard something about 850 being on v3.0 But even at an improved version it $350 still seams cheap and I don't like the fact that the helmet is resin.

850kit with all the replacements and car bumper filler cost over £1000 ....£550 no helmet, £60 import , replacement straps £200ish, softs and boots £250,( my wife made my trousers £150ish from maker) then there’s the paint sand paper and car plastic bumper filler £200 ,, the blaster e22, E11 , and 6 months in a garage through the winter.....

Personally it was one big disappointment my 850 kit was over pulled and very very thin( I pushed my finger thought the chest plate and back box... I had to enforce and re-sculpted 95%.

IS or 3D print ( PETG or Abs not PLA) of easiest option least amount of work.

BSP is good but more work on the shins mainly.

Some 3D prop builders do offer to print different files Helmets and armour depending on your flavour you like so options. And can be tailored to fit better..

In short save for a better kit.. it pays for itself... but it’s your monies, your choice.

850 kit v2 and v3 are very similar.. rounded edges... yes the v3 does has the an altered collar but still no brilliant.

BSP kits have better sharper edges. Shins are the only issue.

The 850 forearms and collar were a nightmare... not a easy kit to clear...

would have sold the kit but felt I was selling a lemon

thedaringdragoon I'm not sure how far you have gotten with this build, but I can offer my services if you are interested? I have a small props shop that I make the helmets for the Shore, Tanker and AT-ACT driver. Here is a Shore that I am currently working on for a client, and I have the ability to make plenty more! Send me a message if you are interested or just want to ask questions. I always will answer to the best of my ability and won't just try to sell you something! I have added a link to my Facebook page.

I have an 850, but not sure if its v2 of v3.  I was able to get approval, but it definitely needs more work.  I think the biggest issue is the collar.

850 just released a new collar kit. Look a ton better then it used to.

Mine were over pulled .. very thin on some parts across the chest plate and the back box ... looks sharper angles than on mine original details..

Best speaking to an armourer from the state/garrison your going to join... the details are a little rounded for me .. not really sharp enough...But can be replaced with better parts as I did..

Remember this general look over opinion!..

Check with your garrisons armourer before you start altering.. as I maybe being overly critical..
