I see folks here have had good things to say about Chef's products.  Know anything about Kriptontop's stuff?

I have read about past issues with that vendor  but my Etsy purchase went rather well. It was just about 5 weeks from order to delivery, so I might have been a lucky one.  I did order with FedEx delivery

The material is good quality.

I see on his Etsy page that delivery to the US with FedEx is estimated at 2 weeks.  I assume that's wishful thinking coming from Bolivia.

With KriptonTop, always, always, always choose fedex shipping.

I can't exactly recall how long it took from order to arrival at my door, but I think it was around 4 to 5 weeks in total.

Yes.  Kriptontop aka Cucblack aka CB makes quality garments.  One caveat: he was banned from selling on this forum due to shipping issues that lead to more than a few folks never getting their product.   By all accounts, he has cleaned up his act, but make sure you ask for Fedex if you order.

Chef was DL here before me and is XO of UKG, so his ties to the Legion are a lot stronger.

I've been a regular customer of KriptonTop/Cucblack on Etsy. His soft parts are pretty good quality. My only issue is that his flight suits and flak vests are rigid, and I wish they were a bit more elastic.

(side note: KriptonTop also makes most of the Biker Scout armor parts (only missing the torso parts (front, back and tank). You may want to avoid all that, as the plastic he uses is brittle. Almost everything I got cracked in some places.)

Thanks.  Just looking for a vest though.  I was toying with the idea of making a bund from a stretchy white cotton twill.  I wonder if using the same fabric in black would add some stretch to the vest.  Maybe even just the front or back portion being made of stretchy stuff would suffice.

While waiting for the final piece of the puzzle to arrive (flak-vest) I revisted my pouch boxes.  The styrene plastic inserts I had previously made work great but they are a bit uncomfortable with the weight and stiffness hanging from the torso.  I had some of this .5" upholstery padding laying around so I starting cutting and gluing together open top foam boxes with contact adhesive.  It literally feels like a weight has been lifted off my chest.

Great work on the boxes. I have something similar for mine. Also the slot is perfect for storing your phone :)

Not sure they make a phone small enough to fit in there nowadays.  My old 1st gen MotoX was tiny and would have slid in their nicely.  My new 4th gen one is a bit too tall.  I can close the flap over it, but you can tell there is something in there.  Cell phones started out as huge bricks then got super tiny and now they are gigantic again.

Update on the KriptonTop/Cucblack vest.  I chose the FedEx shipping as suggested and got a tracking number in advance of the Etsy sellers estimation.  I hope I'm not jinxing things by making mention of this.  Fingers crossed that I don't have to put myself on that list of members who are trying to recoup money from this seller.

I think you’ll probably be ok. When ordered, I think the “expected delivery” date from FedEx was a few days earlier than shipper estimate, but resynced when they actually had the product in hand and was more or less shipper estimate.

Wow.  I got the FedEx shipping notification from Kriptontop  aka CB aka Christian Cucblack (etsy seller)  on July 31st and the vest showed up to my door today August 2nd.  That was much faster than I anticipated.  Looks pretty good too.  I probably would have wasted several more yards of fabric before I could have even gotten anything to look half as good as this vest.

This is a much longer flak vest than I was attempting to make myself.  I had previously put velcro on my under-suit to accept my bund when I was making attempts at a much shorter length vest.  Looks like I'll be transferring those velcro tabs over to the vest now instead.  Trying it on with only a T-shirt on underneath it seems to have a bit more room width wise than I may need too.  I'll have to suit up with everything, but I think I may have to take a little bit of width out of it to get it fitted snugly to my torso.  I should be ready for basic approval once those things are sorted out.

GREAT job Greeny! You should have zero issues with basic approval for that costume.

I submitted my photos to my GML's today (2 of them in my garrison) and they approved me within hours.  Thanks for all the feedback, help and guidance.  Especially Corey and Mickey (you two seem to keep the best tabs on the ongoing builds here on the Pathfinders forum).

To any potential scouts who come across this build thread, the best advice I can give is listen to the suggestions by the veterans, take tons of photos and react accordingly to constructive feedback.  It can save you countless hours and dollars.

As far as my submission photos are concerned.  (https://photos.app.goo.gl/94SBGZDhENLVtG3m6 )  I like most am not a professional photographer with a $1,200 dollar DSLR camera.  I'm at the mercy of a lousy cell phone camera.  That being said, my submission photos don't show details very well (washed out, bad lighting etc..), but having a detailed build thread at approval time affords you GML to reference photos of specific costume components that you may have documented as you acquired or fabricated them.  This build log is basically a clone of one I kept up on my local garrison forum...so my GML team simply looked back at the detailed images of the specific component in question and approved me without hesitation (or having to see things in person).

Time to get back to the speeder bike build which has been on the back-burner since last year.

Wow congrats on the approval! I just started getting everything I needed to start on the soft parts today. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Having worn my bucket a few times I'm having issues with the lens fogging up.  I know this has been discussed at great length in other parts of the forum but I'm going to attempt my own flavor of fan system.  I'm not looking for a complete cooling system here, just something to either move some air across the lens or move my breath out from behind the face-plate.  I'm using the MC resin bucket.  It's obviously a bit thicker than the ABS lids, so space inside it at a premium.  I'm hoping these little 5v brushless blower fans combined with a 3.7v 18650 cell (or two) will be small enough to fit somewhere in this lid.
