PROWL Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I noticed that the company Anovos sells tropper neck seals on their website.. I also noticed that in the scout trooper CRL it doesn't mention anything of a neck seal so I'm guessing it may not be screen accurate... But in the game battlefront II the scout trooper has a neck seal and it looks pretty cool but since it is in a star wars licensed video game would that be considered canon and would a neck seal on a scout trooper be 501st approved..?
Chopper Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Hey there -- while the neck seal is used in a few ROTJ scout scenes, it's not currently a part of the Scout Trooper CRL. As such, it's not an approvable accessory as a part of a 501st scout trooper costume submission. 2

Nay. Our CRL is modeled after Return of the Jedi and in the film they had a mandarin collar, common on flight suits. There were scenes in the film where it looks like there was a neck seal, but it's difficult to tell. Ultimately, we have to set a standard for the 501st and that standard is no neck seal. 3
Darth Chridan Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 ....but it does have its right to exist 😉 😋 --->> ...nevertheless I don't wear a neck seal either.
Aliaz Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 It does but not in the CRL. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk 1

Darth Chridan Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Just now, BikerScout007 said: One errant neck seal does not make a standard. Sure...just like I has wrote... it does have its right to exist. What is the standard?...of course, that's what is in the CRLs. I just meant it is not really wrong to wear a neck seal if you want to make this "special" trooper on screen!?! But I don't want to start a principle discussion. This was not my intention. Cheers...
Dart Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Yes, there is some evidence that a neck seal was worn once but because it's not consistently worn, it's not part of the CRL. That's the key. Also, the neck seal that was crafted for the scout was not the same as the ones for the TK's (some description was in the SW Costumes book). If a scout decides to wear one, it's on them, kinda like if they want to wear a pauldron. 1

Some people like to be special snowflakes There are dozens of errors and inaccuracies in the film and the CRL can't keep track of every single one of them. We have to set a standard so that our GML's in every country in the world can look at a costume and know that it is right. That's why our CRL represents the aggregate of every bit of information we have so that we have a uniform look for 501st Scouts. Gino told us that the Scouts DID wear a neck seal -- but UNDER their collar. Where it can't be seen. Obviously this scout represents a wardrobe error. Remember -- the blue screen speeder bike scenes were the very last scenes shot for ROTJ. This was at the very end of production. So the costumes at that point had been through hell and back. I think that explains why there are so many issues on this one scout. If folks want to cosplay with neck seals and pauldrons and reflective lenses or whatever -- that is fine. But we aren't adding that stuff to the CRL so it won't be allowable on troops where the Garrison demands strict adherence to the CRL. 1
Darth Chridan Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Hi... well, long talk... short sense. I am well aware of the meaning of the CRLs. I didn't say anything else. Btw...the neckseal is really better than a pauldron. The neckseal was on an on-screen Biker Scout...the pauldron not. 😜 1
BikerScout007 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 That response isn't just for you. It's for anyone who reads this thread and wants to know why certain things are or are not in the CRL. Especially since these questions come up over and over again. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk 2
