theenglishdjentleman
Hi all, I was just wanting to ask how accurate are Imperial Boots in relation to basic (Level 1) and Lancer? I understand the soles need to have the pattern cut into them. Is there more needed to be worked on? Or is it a case of picking up a different makers product? Thanks. BikerScout007
There's nothing wrong with them per se for basic. Yes they will need the soles cut to match the screen ones. My issue with them is more aesthetic. They don't look like a boot with a leather wrap over top of it. They just look like a pair of boots. So the material sits "closer" to the surface of the boot than the screen used ones did. Check out photos of production boots here. Those were Sierra Sneakers covered up with leather: t's purely a matter of taste and would not mean a rejection of your application as long as you did all the Level 2 requirements. We do require: The boot sole is a single color with no visible stitching. I see stitching on the soles in some of the sample photos IB provided of their Scout boots. Those would need to be covered up somehow. Additionally, I'm not sure how much they customize their boots to fit the wearer. I see they sell by shoe size but I don't see any place where they ask for the width of your leg. Personally, I have big calves and I'd be worried that the closure wouldn't fit around them! Finally, you have some great prop makers in the UK that you can get boots from. Be sure to check our vendor list for the most current prop makers http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/156-vendor-sales/
theenglishdjentleman
This is such a helpful post! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. These are the boots that are coming with the latest RS commission project. Just want to prepare myself for the work needed. In the end I would prefer to go 100% accurate and have a set of the boots you've stated. Will have a good read through the vendor list. Cheers again! Just to add to this part of Mickey's post, the height and circumference of the IB scout boots aren't customized to the wearer, aside from selecting a shoe size. The height and circumference should be listed in their size chart, but depending on your body size, there's the risk that they fit your calves poorly, or they're too short in relation to your knee armor.
