Kprellz Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Hey all! making my first set of armor and I see every likes to use the hobarts face shield for their lens materialhttps://www.amazon.com/Hobart-770580-Shield-Replacement-Shaded/dp/B002VECKRO However amazon no longer carry's this/they dont know when they will have it again. I was wondering if any one has used anything else they can recommend? Was thinking acrylic or plexiglass to heat up and then form around the helmet but dont wanna get the wrong stuff.. Seems like i've gotten so far only to get tripped up by something so small! Thanks again!
ScaryGuy Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 For accuracy it’s better to use a lens that is a bit curved. I cut a motorcycle helmet visor to size. The jet/pilot helmet types have a visor that is curved. Here’s how I did mine:
