So, I've decided to start a Biker Scout! Doing lots of research at the moment and will be ordering a Red Kap jumpsuit . I'll be ordering a kit from SC upon recommendation from a friend of mine who is a TB. I figure having the jumpsuit first would be helpful in ordering soft goods (so I can take my measurements while wearing the suit so they will be more accurate.)

I'll keep updating here as I make progress.

You'll do well with SC. Their new chest and back pieces look really good, and their shipping is fast (so no need to wait!). Also, they are one of the easier kits to build and it's nice that they include the straps and greeblies.

Also, for the soft goods, check the vendor list. There are trusted people there who will do good work for you.

You're on you way. :tb1::duim:

Look what I got today guys! Now here is my question, I know that the soup needs to be modified and there are pockets on the back that need to be removed but I have a question about the pockets on the sides in the below pictures you can see them and there are two one that runs right along the seam of the side and essentially let you access the pants you would wear under the other is right next to that. Do those need to be removed or sealed with Velcro? Also can the chest pockets stay?

They key phrase in the CRL is "The suit is free of any visible labels, logos or zippers (including built in flight suit pockets)" :)

The chest pockets will be under the flak vest and chest armor, so you can leave those.

As long as you can't see the trouser slash pockets when you're armored up, you can leave those accessible too. Troopers tend to use those for ID badges, keys, etc.

I am thinking that the pockets on the side would be covered by the belt pouches. Thoughts? I’m not so worried about the ones that run and her basically hit in by the seam at the ones that set just in front of that and an angle55213d5d52412646530427ccb5088e94.jpg.
The one pocket where my hand is I think would be fine but the one directly in front of that is the one that I really have the question about

It will likely not be visible and be covered by the belt/belt boxes if you leave it open. You should not need to remove the pockets entirely, regardless.

I recommend you hold off on closing them up until you start to get your armor fitted. If you want to keep it accessible as a pocket, then you could certainly use velcro to keep it usable.

Ordered the holdout blaster from DVH today. Also ordered the gloves from Wampa Wear. Both should arrive in a few weeks. Also have contacted Steph Mortimer regarding the soft goods. Once I hear from her I will know my timeframe for ordering my armor kit.

Mapping out the pattern for the riding patches using duct tape and masking tape. Trying to see if this looks good.
Feedback welcome

Get some cheap scrap fabric and you can cut patches out of that and pin them on to see how they look. Duct tape just seems hard to work with.

I planned to do the fabric however I need a pattern first. That’s what the duct tape is for.

Very interested to see SC's new chest and back plates.

I will post photos once I can lay everything out. I took a brief inventory of things but haven’t laid everything out as I am in the middle of decorating for a Christmas party next week

Question about the lens. The one that came with the kit is a bit darker than I would like it to be. I have a visual impairment which gives me low vision and having a dark lenses is great when I’m outside but when I am inside especially in a dimly lit place, it can be a challenge. I have a spare replacement shield from Hobart and I was wondering if it would be dark enough to use for the lens. Here is a picture of the replacement shield and then a picture with both the Lions and the shield for comparison

Temporary placement of knee armor to see how the patch pattern works. The blue at the top is not trimmed yet so Base your feedback on that please and thank you. Does the patch need to move up about an inch ?
