jwnikita Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Hi, just getting started and looking to purchase boots. I saw an older post about Imperial Boots and looked into their website. It looks like they are ready to go without any modifications. Is this correct? (I know in the older thread, it mentioned some mods with the sole, but it looks like they have changed their construction since)
762s Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 hello, looking at their site and pics ... ~ soles will need modded ~ center stitching on the front of the leather is still present (see the last pic) ~ velcro closer closes the wrong way also, there is no way they know the height of your calf ... so, the boot could be to tall or to short for you. i read what the say in the crl tab but, that looks like our old crl info i suggest take a look around our vendor section and contact some of them to make your boots or look into building your own boots (its really not that hard )
jwnikita Posted October 25, 2018 Author Posted October 25, 2018 Thanks. I wasn't sure about the info, if it had been updated, but apparently not. I have PMs out regarding boots. 2
BikerScout007 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 I don't love the Imperial Boots. The film boots were hiking boots covered with leather and since Imperial Boots are made as one whole boot, they always look off. Like a pair of white rain galoshes
AJay Irish Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Honestly I just can’t justify the insane pricing from imperial boots. There are more than enough tutorials by this detachment to make a good solid pair of boots for a fraction of the cost. 1
Retrofire Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 My boots were the first step I took in becoming a Scout. I got a pair of boots from Kmart and some vinyl from hobby lobby cracked open some build threads here on the forum and dived in. I had help the whole way because that’s what these folks here do...help each other. If I can do it anyone can do it and it gave me the confidence to move on to building my armor. The boots are a great place to start your journey. Doing it yourself will save you money and build confidence. It’s a win-win! 1
