I guess I should start posting my progress here so I can get some feedback!

This is the cummerbund progress. the crotch piece is only pinned on.

Bund looks a little tall for my tastes.  I can see it's coming down to your hips when it should be coming down to your waist.  But the belt will mostly cover it so that should be fine.   I wear mine higher up too.  Right below my armpits.

We recommend a height of between 8-10 inches for the cummerbund.  8 inches makes it tall enough so that the pouch and its attachment tab fit the entire thing evenly.

It’s 10” - thought it would be ok if it went behind the belt and the chest piece some to avoid that gap?

Some film scouts had a small gap in the back, others didn't, so it's perfectly acceptable to go either way.

It does look a little long,  but I def wouldn't call for any alterations at this point. Give us a look once you get your belt and upper armor rigged up and we can provide any further refinements.

Yeah that should be fine.  Just pull it up a bit.  Remember you want to wear your belt on your waist, not your hips.  And the bund should stop at the belt and maybe tuck into it just a little

Hello,

Does the greeble look good where it is at on the tank before i commit to a rivet to the back plate?

This is a photo from the motm exhibition. You don't need to exactly match the placement, since sizing is different for different armor makers, but I'd move it back from the rear armor a little bit.

Just looking at the two pictures above, the round greeblie looks to be in the wrong place.

The greeb that ScottF is using is the one that comes standard with the SC kit. It does have some minor differences, yes but we haven't been too strict about it historically.

The CRL image shows the greeblie close to the back. I’d never be able to get a rivet into the back if I move it out? Doesn’t the rivet need to go through the greeblie?

  • Tank topper is secured with single metal colored rivet in the center of the greeblie.

That's correct, the rivet should go through the pre drilled hole on the edge of the tank greeb. I know SC started adding an extended bump on his back armor, so when you asked earlier I figured you'd have room to move the greeb outward slightly? If not, leave it and you'll be fine as is.

Yes, there is a bump out where it attaches. I will move it out some before i rivet. I appreciate all the feedback! More progress coming soon I hope!

Been away from this for a bit, but...do i need to trim the holster down at all before I attach it or does this look ok?

thanks!

Try getting an Imgur account, that’s what I use to show progress pics and do my approvals. It’ll give you all the coding you’ll need to embed or direct link or whatever you’ll need when you want to post stuff.

Imgur worked. Thank you!

Get a longer codpiece strap, and put some buckram or fabric stabilizer inside the codpiece to keep it from crumpling!

Overall, you look pretty sharp. Good work.

I recommend you try and attach your bund to your vest or flight suit. You can see it starting to droop under your chest armor a bit.

Not required for basic, but you may want to round off those shoulder bell edges. That's up to you though :)

Otherwise yeah, lookin' alright

Thanks! I didn't have them attached to the cummerbund well when I had that on today. It was a bit of a rushed dress while I had help here. This is a lot more to wiggle into place than my x-wing costume!

I'd probably go with Chopper's route as well, I suffer the same problem. My cod strap should be about 2 inches longer but for now it'll work since it doesn't feel uncomfortable or to loose. Down the line when I don't have a stack of costumes in the works I'll touch that portion up.

My shoulders are also currently sharp edges. Is there an acceptable radius for the rounding mentioned?

Thanks!
