cravin sole /biker Boots

Hi there, thanks very much for the quick reply. Do you use an exacto knive for cutting/carving the rectangle upper pattern on the heel as well? Because that seems tricky to get it smooth (to cut the rectangle is not the problem I suppose but to cut under it :-)

Regards and thanks

Yes, I use an exacto knife for everything. It’s hard to explain with words, but I’ll try my best. I trace over the lines I drew with the knife, cutting in a shallow amount. Then I start at the top (or bottom depending on which part your doing) and slice through like bread.

I’m going to be working on a pair of boots this weekend and can try to record a video if that would help.

Well, if that would not be too much an effort I 'd really appreciate it. Maybe it depends on the boots overall and their profile.

I am getting my scout next week so if I am having problems with the boots, I would write you then, if you don't mind.

Many regards,

Hendrick

Rather than making a square, try cutting in all the way from the top. It makes it easier to slice into the sole. The same way that you did the bottom.

It also depends on the material of the sole. The boots I use are a little bit softer and gunmier so it’s easy to cut into. Something with a hard sole will be more difficult.
