I'm currently working on losing weight and am hesitant to start getting everything done on my scout for that reason. I'm currently 220 and looking to get around 180-190. I know I'll probably need to get new soft parts or at least have them taken in if I get them now. I have Strider's armor from Mark at CFO still sitting in the box. I'd prefer not having to readjust the armor if at all possible but I feel bad having it just sit there. Anyone have any suggestions?.

Well, regardless of size, you should be able to get started on trimming the armor at least. Unlike stormtroopers, you don't really need to trim the armor to size. The side strapping might need to be adjusted, sure, but not much with the hard parts. With the scout any changes would primarily be with the soft goods -- particularly the coveralls, vest, and bund.

So yeah, I'd definitely hold off on the soft goods until you're at your target weight, but you could definitely get started on the armor and boots.

I entered the Legion in 2013 my weight was 250-260. I lost down to 180 in about 5 months. I bounce between 175-185 depending on what workout I'm on. Totally had to have all soft part remade. I'd wait or learn how to sew. Took me a while to catch on to the whole sewing thing.

Of all the things that I learned in the process of joining the legion, figuring out how to use a sewing machine was one of the most useful (and cost effective).

I have a brother sewing machine that I'm learning how to use. I'm great with straight lines, but not  with much else.

That's ok! I got started with just sewing velcro. Even that saves a ton of work and money.

I decided to start learning how to sew on monk cloth for a Jawa. Not my smartest move.

Oh man, i feel your pain..i made a tusken outer robe with monks cloth once...holy hell its difficult to work with. But everything will seem SO easy after that! lol

Great information as I too am enrolled in the emperors weight loss challenge to trim down to a lighter trooping size... my goal is about the same as Tjeccles so it looks like armor first, soft goods second.. thank you , this will save me some time and republic credits...

You can do it man. I can down to my goal. Now I just need to keep it off.

Unfortunately, I need to wait to get my soft parts materials because money is tight.

I think I have... three bunds? That's not counting all the ones that were started and then shelved when I either got too big/small for them. My weight fluctuates due to a couple of medical conditions I have, so it's practical for me to have multiple sizes handy... I'm lucky my mom sews!

It may be worth trying to sew up some test bunds for yourself, so that you can make one that will pass muster for now, and maybe get one done by a vendor for when you hit your target weight. Easier said than done, maybe, but could be worth it in the long run. Bunds are fairly forgiving as far as a first sewing project goes.

The suit may be best to wait to tailor until you hit your target weight, though. But I think you could probably get away with starting on the riding patch and butt flap now.

I lost 30 lbs right in the middle of the build. The cummberbund had to be shortened. But me and Pandatrooper managed to make sure that nothing was too permanent and somewhat adjustable.

We believed it was better to shrink down that add on.

I have made a video on my build for others to follow along and guide
