Belt and belt boxes

Alright team pathfinder, I need some help.  I am working on my scout armor, Chef's Creations, and I am at the point of putting the belt together.  I was told and read, the that boxes should hang about 2 inches below the belt.  How much cotton webbing should I use to attach the buckles to the boxes and the belt?  Is there a standard that is used or is it all just an estimate?  I look forward to your responses.  Thank you.

Between 1 and 2 inches, closer to 1 if you can do it.

How much webbing you need will depend on your size of course.  For my belt boxes, I used 4 feet of webbing

Hey dude, welcome aboard. 

The drop boxes should ideally hang about 1" below the belt.

To attach my boxes to the webbing, I put some velcro in my boxes and then attached the webbing to the velcro. This also lets you adjust the way the boxes hang.
