I've been slowly gathering up the soft goods over the past year or so, but now I have finally plunked down for some armor.   My awesome Sean Fields' helmet, built by Tom Wykes, just arrived today, and my armor should be coming next month.  This is what I've got so far

Helmet:  Sean Fields, built by Tom Wykes
Armor: Imperial Surplus f/k/a KW Designs
Belt:  Me, but using Rob Kittell's belt buckle.
Hip armor:  Me, using Seantrooper's v3.4 pattern.
Gloves: Endor Finders
Boots: Orca Bay Havana
Pants:  No idea, they were given to me.  Probably get something more SA in the future
Shirt:  Imperial Boots
Weapon:  Sean Fields E-22, 3D printed
Paints used:

  • Base coat:  Rustoleum Ultra Cover Paint & Primer - Satin Dark Walnut
  • Armor and helmet:  Montana Gold Sahara Beige
  • Red bicep:  Toyota Super Red 2 (same as 3E5)
  • Blue on chest and arm armor:  Kevin Weir's special blend, based on a paint chip of the Ford Nordic Blue

And now for some flat black.   I haven't glued the visor or snout on yet, just set them in place for this pic

This is the paint I used for my base coat, in case anyone is interested. It goes on real nice and easy.

Finally got a chance to get back on this. Decided to tackle the bicep armor. I cut some notches out of the lower piece so they would fit together better.

I assembled each bicep differently. On one I used scrap abs and abs cement to put them together. It worked but I found the process time consuming and not very neat.

So for the other I used 3M double sided tape! I'll see which holds up better :)76481bd3fa28db9a03f2dbf708a2cb4f.jpg276c599849f12b65ecfa7ab0d8695147.jpgf408eb29c75b4ce61817d6a400f84256.jpgf5a1044c695458f182b86a4c419d70df.jpg

Little bit of painting today! I used Kevin Weir's blue he had made for his kits and Toyota red on the bicep. 8ece3d567ba74818c3e728f9e40f611d.jpg

It might be worth looking into this range of ageing sprays that are available stateside called Movie Paint. They look to be similar to the Dirty Down products found in the UK. The colour range looks to be quite limited however the Rottenstone colour may be a grey. Might be worth investigating further. Also it was confirmed the the Dirty Down grey was sprayed over the Nordic Blue but I would be surprised if it was limited to just that particular area. I suspect the Dirty Down grey and dark brown were used all over the armour but not to excess. A matt black was also used to dirty up the armour and once again I suspect it was used all over judging by looking at reference closely. Here is the link to Movie Paint product. Let me know how you get on with it if you proceed as I have been eyeballing it for a while now and was wondering if it is the same kind of thing as the DD. https://www.specialeffectsunlimited.com/product/movie-paint/
