spyder918
Anyone know if there is a thread dedicated to just the Flightsuit for a tutorial/DIY? Or are they embedded within the different builds?
BikerScout007
Anyone know if there is a thread dedicated to just the Flightsuit for a tutorial/DIY? Or are they embedded within the different builds? There are a few threads in this forum that show bits and pieces of it, but not one that shows the whole thing from beginning to end. But this is something I plan to remedy This one has some good pics and tidbits in it: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18483

Frank75139
I’m looking for the same thing spyder My issue is I’m not sure where to place the patches. From the looks of it on pics the front starts about center leg (left to right) and the back is just barely creeping out. I’d hate to see something to find out it’s wrong. Dart
You're not wrong, Frank. There's no need for the riding patch to extend too far back. As long as it covers the inner leg at the front, that's the look you want. I'm actually planning on building a new flightsuit as I managed to pick up what looks like a decent jumpsuit pattern. Just need to get to doing it.

My next question would be the CRL states the patches stop above the knee armor but in the CRL pic it clearly shows the patches going past the knee armor. Do I stop before the armor? Tjeccles
The pictures Mickey provided show the patches stopped above the knee guards.
BikerScout007
It's tough to nail down because knee armor slides around so much while you are wearing it. I'd say when you are measuring, have the riding patch stop above your actual knee. So for me, measuring from the seam of the crotch to above my knee, that would be 12 inches. Your mileage may vary. The CRL pic was modeled after the Costumes book Scout: Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk

BikerScout007
I'm measuring to just before my knee starts. But really.... you don't have to get that crazy about it. Just don't make it too long and dont make it too short.

spyder918
Also, is there a DIY on how to do the collar? Especially on the redkap suits.
BikerScout007
Also, is there a DIY on how to do the collar? Especially on the redkap suits. What I do is cut off one of the butt pockets to use as material to create the mandarin collar flap. You flip the collar up, then use the material from the pocket to bridge the gap in the front of your neck. I can post some pics later! ScottF
I used the tool pocket from the side. It is pretty much the right size for the collar.
