LW Kit in progress

Recommended Posts

I've conencted the main halves and shored up the interior along the seam, and will be doing the initial Dremel work this weekend.

I heard of P38 Isopon Easy Sand filler, but it only appears to be available in the UK. What is the US equivalent? Is there an 'easy sand' version of Bondo? Is there a better product?

(Note: it is not my intention to be hyper-accurate about the construction as compared to the original screen helmet, particularly in regards to the inside seam buildup.)

looking good!

for my rs builds i use a multipurpose bondo found at most hardware stores .. not the auto parts body filler bondo!

the trick is to not lay it on thin and pull your edges tight ... sand a little, feather your edge out and lay on another thin layer. this reduces alot of sanding.

i tried apoxie sculpt .. its not good for parts that require a little flex(main helmet), the apoxie sculpt will crack. on the seam

good luck

Made some progress this week!

I used a large sanding drum to Dremel down the 'spine':

Applied Bondo's All-Purpose Putty:

As expected, I will have to have another putty session. I'll probably use Bondo's glazing putty (since I already have it), or buy the stuff mentioned above.

Next step: the ear holes!
