Zero’s RS build

Recommended Posts

Okay new here, but veteran on other forums, an whats brought me here was my resent purchase of a RS helmet from someone who decide to sell it on.

Have to say I’m looking forward to building this up... though i’m Still to pick it up in the next day or two.

So I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet, but have been told that it has an issue.. I’m not sure who created the issue and I’m sure it will be a fidly fix, but I got it cheap so no complaints from me :-)

I have a few photos of the issue.... over trimming on the main body of the helmet, shouldn’t too hard to fix really, just have to make sure i get it right so everything works as it should...

congrats on owning an rs helmet :)

the gap doesnt look to bad ... and you may even be able to have no gap depending on what size it is now.

it all works of the visor/faceplate width.

if you need help with it just ask. a few of us around here have built a couple of them or them more ;)

Thanks 762s I know how long the wait list on the RS’s can be and kinda rare to see them sold on in NZ.

I’ll know more of what I’ll have to do on his once in hand...looking forward to that.

actually there kits are no wait ... they ship within the week of purchase.

i have ordered 5 kits from them at various times ... the 5th one was a month delivery due to the customs paperwork missing from the box.

so far the kits seem to be pulled with a certain quantity being made each time ... this new available batch is run #3 for the biker scout kit.

first run they did i got the second and third from the last one available. it took them about a month to restock when the last one was sold.

and with run #2 i got the last one and within a couple weeks(less than a month) run #3 was available and the kits where back in stock.

they also build the kits for customers which is where the waiting begins and the misalignment of the visor happens ;)

anyways, look forward to seeing your RS build .. good luck!

The beauty for me is I got it for really good price about $299NZ which is about have their going rate not counting customs fees

Okay I got my kit, and wow, so far I love the look of the pulls and the ABS it nice and thick and feels really solid...

How ever I seem to be missing a few bits.... I have ordered a new replacement snout from DVH (Lou) but there seems to be no covers for the hing?

I keep trying to attach a photo but for some reason I can’t... I keep being told it’s too big, of that I have used my total globle quota?? I’ve only attached two photos in above posts.... is there a secret way of adding photos that I’m missing... I don’t have this issue on other forums......

Yay first upload...

Here’s most of what I received in the kit. As I have no instructions or check list sheet, I can only guess what is and is not there.

I’m guessing the printed parts (in the bag) are part of the hinge for the visor and will need some very slight smoothing with sand paper and primer on the flat area.

nice,

and yes, your missing some pieces.

for some reason RS has stopped adding the checklist to the kit.

the first 2 kits i received had the list, the last 3 did not have the check list. i created one and print it out for each kit that did not have a checklist as well, put a serial number sticker on the list ... i will post the list below.

they have also started to add extra(5) serial number stickers to the kits, thanks to yours truly :)

i use them for the certificate of authenticity(place it on the back), checklist and inside the helmet

the black folder they send has one already applied to the inside of it. it only makes sense to me to have the other paperwork, esp, certification of authenticity, have corresponding serial number.

so, it looks like your missing:

~ small sheet for filler

~ 2x cover strips

~ chin cup

~ 1 center top

~ 1 peak join

~ snout greeblie

~ spare water slide decal set (i see 1... you should have 2)

~ cut line details(black barcode sticker that goes on back of helmet) they only send 1 of these

~ do you have 2 rivets and 2 washers in the small bag?

~ paperwork, certificate, serial numbers

i have heard of the RS bolts breaking,

so, you may want to consider ordering a new set of screen accurate visor bolts from KW Designs here,

http://forum.bikersc...showtopic=10270

just follow his instructions on his first post.

i tell you ... send andrea a message on RS's facebook page ...

she is awesome to deal with and probably will be able to help you out with the missing parts/pieces/paperwork. she has helped with extra serial number stickers on all my kits, 2 busted snout greeblies, and a delayed package.

if the person you bought the kit from doesnt want to send you the other pieces/parts/paperwork.

let her know who you got the kit from and she might be able to get you serial numbers/pamphlet folder/certificate of authenticity too, its worth a shot and doesnt hurt to ask.

RS is pretty awesome to deal with and its nice to have a company that cares and listens to the customers in this costuming community!

here is their original checklist:

Scout Helmet Kit Contents Check List

Vac Formed Parts

Left Hand Helmet Side

Right hand Helmet Side

Left Hand Peak Side

Right Hand Peak Side

Face

Chin Cup

ABS

2 x cover Strips

1 Centre Top

1 Peak join

Small sheet for filler

Fixings

2 x Rivets (12x4)

2 Washers

2 Replica welding mask fixings

Accessories

Visor material

Hard Hat liner

Water Slide Decals (with spare)

Cut line details

Replica Snout Greeblie

1" black elastic

and some pics of the entire kit and original checklist

and since my talks with RS about the serial numbers they have also added that information to the Certification of Authenticity ... here is the first certification compared to the newest certification, i added the serail number to the back and now RS is adding that info on a new line at the bottom of the certification. ;)

anyways, i hope RS can help you out with the pieces you need and good luck!

Wow awesome reply, cheers.

There are a few other things in the box that I did lay out, I’ll take a more complete photo. The chin cup is there it’s been chopped off I. The photo.

Yes I have rivets in the bag, and I’ll definitely follow up on replacement bolts, I’m not a fan of printed items as I know they do break easily.

I’m guessing the guy I got the helmet off kept all the other items as he told me they replaced his first order as he said RS over trimmed the main body in their rush to get helmets out over Christmas, and they just sent him a new one.... great service.

But I’ll definitely see if RS can help me out.

Have to say I’m really loving what I see with this kit so far.
