Finishing Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Greetings Troopers !!

Have my EC-17 Scout Pistol. Fellow Scout and Lancer has suggested I use Putty to fill in the Tiny Holes visible on Close Inspection of my pistol. As my EC-17 Pistol is a DVH Pistol and made of Hard Rubber, I would Greatly Appreciate Any Advice/Suggestions on how to solve this. What would You suggest ?? Looking to post images once I find a suitable image service since the demise of Photo Bucket.

Your Help would be Greatly Appreciated.

Cheers

I'd need to see photos to see how bad they are to give the best suggestion. These usually dont have any signifigant holes/bubbles because i brush the rubber into the mold first and then fill it up so the outer layer wouldn't have any bubbles/holes. That said, its not impossible to happen, especially as the molds got more use, and you got one of last ones i did before i stopped.

Anywho..in general you should be able to fill any of the tiny holes with bondo glazing and spot putty, or "automotive icing"..which is like a thinner bondo basically. The rubber is a rubber resin, so those products should adhere ok. An epoxy putty may work as well, but i dunno how well it would fill tiny bubbles and it may be TOO thick/hard and not get into the tiny holes or even come off. Id just put the spot putty or icing on your finger tip and press it into the holes running your finger across them. You shouldnt need to sand it if you do it neatly enough. However you may have to paint it. Using any acrylic based paint will work. id say flat or satin. Ive seen folks use Taimaya acrylic enamels with good success on these. I saw someone do plasti-dip and it looked great, but i tried it and it didnt work out so great...it may just have been me lol. .

check out imgur .. works good for hosting!

i dont think .. tiny holes being filled on the body are a requirement for lancer.

Hold-out Blaster

For 501st approval:

  • Flat or semi-gloss black.
  • Blaster does not have any visible trigger.
  • Blaster is lightly weathered.

For level two certification (if applicable):

  • The scope has lens discs cut into the scope for a more realistic appearance.
  • No decals representing cross hairs or similar.
  • No drilled barrels. The screen used ones did not have drilled barrels.

nope its not ... you should be good to go.

actually my dvh has some small holes .. and the lancer review team didnt say a single word about them.

No one knows the exact colors used on the ROTJ costumes but I used a Testors gloss white for the dot, red for the stripe, and a medium grey for the chest rectangle.
