Hey All, excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong area or should post something somewhere else first. It's kinda confusing as to what to do on forums at times! I'm happy to go about the proper channels if I'm jumping the gun or just in the wrong area all together.

I'm skipZero, I've recently started a TB build with a nearly complete, ok set of armour I found at a decent price on eBay a bit ago. Since then, I've been able to get most the other bits ordered as well as some of the soft pieces off etsy.

So now I start following the CRL and all, but there's no pictures on how the straps are actually attached. It seems that the majority are prolly glued to the back as they don't seem to show on the front of the armour. Nor are there holes that they wrap through on most pieces...

So I guess my first, pretty general question is how are the elastic straps attached on the hard armour pieces? what should I look/out for in putting this all together and I'd love to see pictures of how things are attached, not just everyone showing the working sides of the pieces.

thanks, I really appreciate hearing and seeing how to go about this the right way the first time! Still seems a little daunting, but I think I can handle this... I hope!

My end goal, or at least one, is to go up to the redwoods while wearing my armour/outfit and ask the tourists if they've seen my bike! ;)

Since I don't live to terribly far from the big trees here in N. California, it'd be something to get me out the house and I'm sure I'd put a smile on many a tourists face... Well, it was a thought at least, not promising it'll make it up there.

thanks again!

Hey Skip. Welcome to BSN!

I made this thread not too long ago. Lots of photos from the inside and it should answer some of your questions about attaching parts together. It's not the only way to do it, just what worked for me.

This area is fine to post in! Maybe you can continue to use this thread to show us your build progress!

The most common way to attach straps to the hard plastic is with velcro. Sewing the velcro hook to the strap and then affixing velcro loop with sticky tape on the back of it to the inside of the armor.

I actually hot glued my straps to my armor, so that's another way to do it. The slits in my armor pieces were cut very thin so they would do a good job of holding the strap, and the glue does the rest!

Hey guys, thanks for your suggestions and photos. I'll be more than happy to start sharing pics! Sorry I posted and dropped off the face of the earth. seems life tends to get in the way of my fun far too much lately. I now have the last pieces of armour I had been missing from the basket case I acquired on ebay and just need to get a bit more elastic and study every photo I come across to see how others have tackled the same challenges. If I get me arse in gear, I was contemplating wearing the (nearly if not completely) done outfit to Maker Faire up here in Northern California around the middle of may. I have nearly all soft parts on order from an etsy store and had been missing the back piece as well as the hump, which I got from the gent making the kits out in Ky or somewhere just as south. ;)

And while I'm rambling, it occurred to me the other day as I was watching motorcycle races at a pub near my office, that they too wear a 'tank' thing on their back and their hump is to prevent them from breaking their necks in a wreck. I pondered if that's the inspiration and at least one purpose of the TB tanks? Oh and it seems just about every imperial soldier has a thermo detonator on their uniform. Is this in lieu of a cyanide pill in the event they're captured? I'd like to know what the bits and bobs are actually for if I'm gonna be humping the whole mess thru the redwoods. If I've wondered the purpose, I know I'll be asked and would prefer not to say 'I dont know' or to fabricate a whole pile of bull that'll come back and haunt me, assuredly. ;)

I'll be sure to look over the thread, Chopper, thanks for pointing me to it and BikerScout007, I had thought about glue, too. I think it wouldn't be too bad an idea to get a couple of detailed shots of 1 or 2 ways other scouts have done this for the CRL page. While I feel it's pretty comprehensive, it seems to stop short of implementation in a couple places. Mainly where those bits are hidden or generally out of sight by default.

Again, much appreciated and I look forward to sharing the journey with everyone and welcome any and all advice, tips or words of warning! :D
