Cptjamesflint Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Hey guys, Finishing up my SC build - and the 501st requirement is to have WHITE strapping connecting the front and back plate, however the T-strap that connects above the shoulder is black, per the SC instructions. Any suggestions, or tips? I do have some white adhesive backed velcro left over. Would it be acceptable to cover the open black T-strap section, and leave the adhesive back on? What have you guys done to connect the top section with white strapping, while still using the T-strap setup?
stasz Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 The T-Strap thing is a loaner from how Stormtrooper shoulder bells are attached. It's since been confirmed that scouts used zip ties and a zip tie anchor glued into the shoulder bell, though that method is not required for approval. Here's a couple different ways I've seen the t strap done while accommodating the white shoulder bridge cover: This is mine. Simply leave a gap under your bridge cover, and attach the t strap Velcro further into the chest and back armor This is one I always thought was cool. All in one! I'm sure there are some other ways floating around in build threads. And for more info on the zip tie, check out Bikerscout007's Strider build thread. 1
BikerScout007 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Like Stasz said, we used t-straps in the past because we didn't have complete info on the Scout and just assumed whatever the TK used, the TB did as well. Turns out there are quite a few differences. You can get a view of how I did mine in this thread http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18015&st=20 But a t-strap is totally fine for approval. My issue is that your white bridge is much too long. It should be about half that length
762s Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 i did my biker scout like this.. and my shadow scout (and sc armor) was done like this... 1

How big exactly should that white bridge be?
Chopper Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 The t-strap needs to be a tie strap if you're going for Lancer though correct? How big exactly should that white bridge be? From the Lancer specs: "Zip Ties holding the shoulder bell to the shoulder bridge join are optional but recommended." Here's a photo that shows the bridge cover set up fairly well: There's probably a foreshortening effect, but the bridge cover in that photo looks like its about an inch. However, the exact size is not stipulated in either the CRL or Lancer standards. "Shoulder bridge covers spanning the gap between front and back armor should white cotton material. Nylon webbing is not acceptable" Personally, I used the same 1.5" cotton webbing that I used for my chest armor and drop boxes. 1
BikerScout007 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Yes, for the most part, folks do a cover roughly in the shape of a square. So 1.5 x 1.5. But an exact measurement is not specified in the CRL. Honestly, the strip in the film looks only a half inch wide, but I'll cross that bridge some other time 2

M.J Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 You know how much we all enjoy a rowdy conversation about the widths of elastics! I thought it was Tape
BikerScout007 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I thought it was Tape From what I can tell looking at both screenshots and Gino's scout, the strip is just a piece of elastic, about 1/2 inch in width. And it's not a loop. It just covers the top and edges. But for now the CRL calls for white cotton webbing so just do that. Folks should have plenty left over after doing the drop boxes and chest straps!
Cptjamesflint Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 You guys are amazing! I'm still cracking up about the rowdy discussion on elastic widths. So many excellent ideas and suggestions, thank you all!! I'll experiment with several of these and report back! I initially took the adhesive backed leftover velcro and placed it across the bridge, but it passes UNDER the armor, and doesn't give that flush effect, so you guys gave exceptional guidance, thanks a ton!! This place is incredible. So much love and support all around!! 3
