Long time Cadet finally obtaining my SC Kit

You can carefully widen the hole lengthwise, so the elastic fits. If you have a dremel, you can use that, just go slow and take off a tiny bit at a time.

a guy in my garrison suggested that I use a rat tail file. I've used it a little bit and it seems to be going very well.

No difference, most of us have very slight gaps.

What about the greeblie on the top of the tank? Does that go right against the back armor or does it get attached in the middle of the tank?

Where would I purchase the right Belt Clips that I will be attaching the thermal detonator to my belt with.

Here’s where the CRL is your friend. The tank topper goes close against the back armor. If you haven’t yet assembled the tank to the back armor make sure this greeblie doesn’t overlap the edge of the armor or you’ll have troubles assembling it. Place it down where you want it and lightly draw a line around it. Before you glue it lightly sand the back of the greeblie and the area that you outlined on the tank. Clean it off with isopropyl alcohol or another cleaner that wont leave residue. This gives the glue something to grip and the connection will be much stronger.

Got myself a heavy duty Riveter! I was looking in the CRL for specific rivet sizes needed for the different sections that required them but there doesn't seem to have any indication of size of rivet in anything I look at. What are your suggestions for size of rivet for the tank, the knee pieces, the belt and the boot holster? Also apparently E6000 vapors may cause cancer!!!! Thats some serious crap I'm dealing with. Obviously I want to be doing all this outside. Does this also mean that the curing process will want to be outside as well? Or maybe just open all the windows in the house while I am trying to glue things down.

For rivets, I used a mixture of aluminum 1/8" dia with 1/8" grip range and 1/8" dia with 1/4" grip range. Sometimes you need a longer grip range if you're riveting thicker material and parts together.

For rivet backing, I used aluminum 1/8" dia backing plates.

Yes, definitely do your gluing outside or a well ventilated area. I do it outside, wearing gloves, and spreading the glue on with popsicle sticks. I tend to let my stuff cure outside, so yeah, follow the warnings on the label.

This is how my tank topper came from SC. Will I need to alter it. I have never seen pics of the circle greeblie attached to the rest of the topper. Will it be ok just to glue it as is?

In the gluing process I have a bit of crazy excess hanging out the sides of the area. What is a good way to clean that stuff up? Will the tank top greeblie be up to Lancer standard the way it is?

If you used E6000, you can scrape it off after it cures. It just kinda peels off with some friction, like rubber cement.

At this time, the tank topper greeblie from SC is accepted for Lancer.

I really like how the paint scheme is on these. I like how the hot toys biker scout has the tan-ish color in the crevices of the different parts they almost look like a brown wash in the crevices, Around the visor, in the indents of the chest piece and the knees. It looks weathered but a subtle weathering. I also like the blaster marks of the other scout.

I am wondering if combining the two paint schemes will be too much and be considered too much weathering.

As a 1/6 collector, I need To be picky, there is not Hot Toys Scout Trooper yet. 😊 the SS was a good effort but after I started my build I sold mine, to many things bothering me about it once I learned more about the Scout.

And the weathering was one of them. I think it’s to heavyhanded and the armor looks a bit beige because of it. It should be white armor with weathering, not so dirty allover that it looks beige with Brown weathering. Add to that the boxy looking knees, tiny blaster, a helmet that to me looks elongated vertically and...okay, sidebar about 1/6 figures over. :)

I have not weathered my armor yet but as is often the case, less is more IMO.

Oh my heck, after starting my kit, my star wars black 6" biker helmet looked bad to me. The lens was too big I felt.

I am thinking of running elastic behind the tank and back armor. I thought I saw a picture somewhere that indicated the elastic behind the tank was used in the film. Only I can't find any of those pics for the life of me.

From what I have available, you can see it peeking out of the top here, and in the MOTM exhibition as well.

What is the white band at the bottom of your armor pieces?
