I need some help! I will be acquiring a Studio Creations armor kit in the next couple of weeks.

This journey is 4 to 5 years in the making. I have been acquiring different pieces and am finally at the point of getting my armor kit. I am very nervous about screwing up my kit or making straps too long or not making them long enough. Can I get some guidance on a good thread for a newbie to all of this stuff? I have searched online and saw some online instructions at youtube and I have also seen the instructions on the SC website.

I am wondering if the instructions follow the guidelines to be approved with the 501st. I figure that they do I just wanted to make sure, better to be safe than sorry.

I have purchased an Altmans Barn Find Helmet, I have all the soft pieces acquired, I made the boots but need to fix a couple trouble spots.

The late Griffon used to be such an amazing liaison that has helped me up to this point. I hope that I can find another Biker Friend to help me through the finish line.

I look forward to being a part of this amazing band of brothers FINALLY!

congrats on making it this far and sticking with it through the long haul!

your almost there and i know youll be very happy when you get that approval from your gml.

as far as research... start reading all the wip threads here and using all this info to make the best of your build. there is alot here and many different ways to build the costume to have the same look.

start yourself a build wip thread with pictures and ask questions in it or make new question threads... all of us here are more than happy to help you through it!

good luck and look forward to seeing your wip :)

Hey buddy, this is where the fun begins.

The most thorough thread on the SC kit was done a few years ago by Terry "Pandatrooper":

http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9781

This is pretty much a step-by-step how-to. There may be some slight variations though, as SC has made some minor changes in their kit since this was first put up (ie, a one piece belt as opposed to three). But the main idea is there.

The kit from SC is pretty much a "scout in a box". Almost everything you need is in the kit as well as detailed instructions. Plus there is very little, if any, trimming to do. You'll be fine! Just go slow.

You'll be very happy with your Altmann lid, not much to do there.

It may help to reach out to folks in your Garrison and see if you have any local Scouts to help!

Good luck, we are here for you.

Looks like you've got a Hyperfirm blaster. You should be a-ok for basic approval.

Since Photobucket wants to gouge the crap out of people is there a better service to upload images to connect with the site?

Personally, I switched over to https://imgur.com/ when photobucket crapped out.

imgur is good. I've been using posting.org and dropbox.

I am also communicating with my local Garrison here in Utah on facebook for the approval process as well. Here is a thread to my soft parts I have thus far. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/edit/a.10153625691483340.1073741843.775118339/

Hi ya Jake.

SC is an awesome kit we have 2 in our house... the third I wont mention.

Altman helmet nice.

Photos: I also had the dreaded photobucket, I've since then switched to Flickr and couldn't be happier.

I have drop box and smug mug. I just can't seem to figure out how to imbed the images from those sites onto here.

These are for approval purposes. Are there any questions with any of them? I will get the pouches sewn on once I have the measurement between the chest and the belt.

Hi Jake, I'm sure the armourers will chime in in a minute, but you might want to add some volara foam or yoga mat material to the cod. That'll help eliminate the bunched look.when you pull the elastic strap through.

Also, your bund looks a bit long, but it'd be easier to tell once you get your armor fitted on top of it.

Keep at it, buddy!

Chopper is on point with his comments. You can use buckram or the foam he mentioned as a stiffener for that location. The bund does look a bit too long. Ideally it should go from just above your belt to no higher than the straps holding your front and back armor. For instance my bund height is around 9-10 inches. The other thing I noticed is that it looks like you have 6 ribs rather than the 5 the CRL indicates. Take a look here: http://databank.501st.com/databank/File:TB_scout_cummerbund.jpeg

Your vest and flight suit are looking good.

Completed Boots (I hope) its been a long couple weeks to find the time with my wife to finish them. They definitely look and feel better than my first attempt.
