NCwerewolf Posted February 16, 2018 Author Posted February 16, 2018 After a bunch of staring, lupine head-tilting, and almost an entire bag of tortilla chips (you know whassup, Seven) I finally got the snips a'snippin. The lines from RS are extremely dubious, but acting on the good advice of 762s I merely trimmed about halfway between the pencil lines from RS and the edge. I'm operating solely under the premise of "it's easier to take more off than try to add back on". After some *very* rough cuts, I taped a few of the components together to get some preliminary ideas of how things are "shaping up", per se. Just for giggles, I trimmed the crown all the way to the lines because I wanted to see first-hand how bad it could be. I figgered this would be an easy place to fix and fill. Good thing too, because after doing so, there's more gaps than a Sports Illustrated swimsuit photoshoot. Psh. No matter. 762s Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 good start! if you trim the ridge on the front visor where you have the tape the front gap wont be so wide and if you trim the back .. at the top of the crown above the tape and the area between the 2 vents you can get the back gap to close up you only want to cut the areas that are touching now, dont cut where the gap are at! just cut a little bit at a time. and if the strips do not cover your gap, you have a whole sheet to make new wider strips keep us posted 1

Take your time and work methodically. A little extra time on the front end will save you a lot of frustration and make a better end product. 1

Chopper Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 In terms of shape I'd say it's looking pretty excellent. Here's the original helmet that RS Props acquired: You might want to hit the edges with an emory board to smooth them out, but otherwise, looking good. 1

Photo angle is hard to get right for exact comparison, but they're lookin' purty even to me. Photo makes the edges look all wavy too, but it's some weird optical illusion. Survey says....? The helmet itself was looking okay, but I was getting extremely frustrated with the visor. Then lo, did I cry out upon the winds, and clothed myself in sackcloth, and anointed mine head with ashes in my torment. After I had done so, a ray of light did shineth down from the East, and the TB Messiah smiled upon me, even in my time of wrath. I prostrated myself before him and he bade me rise, saying "Send me thine bucket, my child, and I shall have mercy upon thee." And verily, I did send my helmet to 762s in the East, for he bade me to do so, and had mercy upon me, and I will therefore be able to wear a most beautiful and divine helmet.
