sibbel29
hey guys, I am working on my RS bucket, which is my first helmet built. I trimmed the pieces roughly a couple of weeks ago and from this week on, I try to work on it every evening for a bit.. right now I am sanding the edges and try to line up both halfs, which is though.. I don’t want to have a huge crack between them.. wish me luck!! questions: when I have a tiny crack left, can I fill this with polyester putty and sand it etc? why oh why did RS not make square opening on the side of the visor for the bolts... I will dremel them with a precisonpiece , but hey that would have saved me some time.. hahaha keep you updated!! sibbel29
just sanded the edges of the two main pieces a bit more and taped them together again to see it fits.. tomorrow I cut the visor and the ears and make the slots for the elastic on the jaw. then sand the edges and in the meanwhile, thinking about making the 8th vent hole Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
sibbel29
small WIP due to my lack of free time.. I cut the visor and started on the ears, it’s very scary cause the abs is quite thin on the faceplate and the ears. when I finish the ears, I cut the slots for the chinstrap and sand all the edges. then I start working on the returnedge and the 8th venthole. question: how did you guys fill the hole for the 8th venthole? thanks!! 762s
looking good. as for the 8th vent hole ... i filled all of mine with apoxie sculpt, 2 part clay compound, works really well as it doesnt harden to fast and you can use water to work the clay to get the indent right. good luck, keep us posted
sibbel29
update: cut the ears.. up next the slots for the chinstrap. just doing this step by step... Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
762s
looking good ... a little bit of fine tuning on the left ear and in the lens with some sand paper is all i can see/suggest are you going to fix the factory return edge on the bottom of the faceplate?

sibbel29
worked on my returnedge and made the slots for the chinstrap... now sanding and finetuning all edges and working on the 8th venthole ( want to do this even though it scares the living poop out of me hahaha) keep you posted Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
sibbel29
create the slot for the 8th venthole, taped a piece of ducttape on the inside. this week I’ll shape it and fill it with polyester putty. for the dimple I use a piece of metal tube which i press in the putty when it still soft. I also made the first boltslot on my visor... will do the other one tomorrow: and thanks for the posts about the visor and the return edge, I have done already some work on them.. but the overall allignment of the visor is something I can do after I build the complete faceplate/visor.. first second slot and then make the connectionplates for the two dome halves.. Thezeroeffect
Wow this looking good so far... it’s giving me a idea of what I’m getting into with my new RS, only difference is it’s been over trimmed on the main helmet (not by me) so that should be fun to fix í ½í¸€

sibbel29
update!! built the visor and finished it with putty and sanded it. Then I worked on the faceplate and put it together with the visor.. Only need to trim the edge on the side of the faceplate so it closes perfectly to the mainbucket and work a bit more on the returnedge. finally have to drill the holes in the mainbucket for the helmetbolts. I also worked on the mainbucket and filled it and shaped it with putty and sanded it .. I am stoked! The outcome is amazing! one edge needs a bit more work and the mainbucket needs sanding with very fine paper.. so a lot of progress in a few days time. I am happy how it turns out! this is the proof that you can built a bucket decently when you research and do your homework.. hopefully another update in a few days Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
sibbel29
first fitting.. need to trim the visor a bit more. the right side locks perfectly, the leftside needs some trimming.also the faceplate edge and the return edge needs work update: I fixed the visor and both sides lock and isn’t touching the dome Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
sibbel29
arrggh.. first of all.. screw you RS with your bad bad bad pulls... especially the faceplate and visor are very bad!! I am working on the faceplate edge, but because the faceplate is not symmetrical it doesn’t close the way I want. on the left side it closes perfecty, the rightside has a gap .. when I want to close the rightside a bit more, the leftside flares out.. It will work in the end, but this is by far the hardest part for me personally.. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk well, there is something about the symmetry of these helmets that is off ... all my kits i have built need different work on the right side to get them to close properly, some very little work others needed major work. check out my build thread and youll see a heat method i use to get the visor to close. you can also, adjust the bolt hole in the helmet to get a better side profile line. looking good
