well, i made my thermal detonator with electrical cord and drain tube as mentioned in striders lancer build.

the problem im having is the paint remains sticky

i have tried primer, testors and rustoleum(adheres to plastic)

all 3 paints wont cure to the rubber coating on the electrical cord. :(

so, what have others used to paint this electric cord?

I had similar issues when I was working on my TD. Have you tried Krylon fusion? I also prepped the cabling by giving it a wipe down with a little acetone and then let it dry.

There is also a special Plastic prep primer that can be used. I use this on my helmet builds as well. It was recommended to me by Constantin and is quite helpful. It dries clear as well.

I didn't have to paint mine. I was able to snag a old phone from a flea market with grayish cord. Then I wrapped it around a light weight hydraulic hose. I can't remember the OD off the top of my head. Striders caps fit it perfect. Also I used the coil type wire. Made it a lot easier.
