KO22 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I have an approved scout but I would like to get a different helmet. I bought my armor used and made alterations so I am not entirely sure was set I have. Anyways my helmet is fiberglass so it is a bit heavy and is not comfortable for longer troops. The back digs into my head a bit. I probably just have a weird head! I would like to get a abs helmet that will fit my head and my glasses. My current one does fit with my glasses on. I am worried that the SC helmet will not fit with my glasses on. I am not afraid to assemble it as I have assembled a full TK, my son’s TB and made alterations to my TB. I have looked at the helmet comparison thread but many pictures are not available so it is not completely helpful. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 1
762s Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 heya, im sure with the knowledge around here if you posted some pics of your armor someone could be able to nail down who the maker of your armor is. as far as helmets with glasses check this thread http://forum.bikersc...es&fromsearch=1 plenty of good info there on makers of helmets and people who wear glasses it seems you have several choices! good luck!
BikerScout007 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Altmann, RS and KS are probably your best bets for big domes. Strider's lid is on its way to production soon too
KO22 Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 I have been in contact with Walt who I know makes a good kids kit. How would you say his adults helmet is?

I haven't come into contact with one of Walt's lids yet. If you want to get an idea of what all the helmets and armor look like together, give this thread a look http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17774 1
KO22 Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 It's been a while but I did decide to go with an Altman lid and it arrived yesterday. I love that I can put it on with my glasses on and it doesn't hurt my head! I was wondering if there are any modifications that need to be done for just the basic approval. I have seen mods for Lancer but since I don't think I can get my armor up to Lancer status I don't see the point right now, maybe later. Also is there anyone who could tell me what lid this is and what it might be worth? I bought it from a trooper and I am now sure who the maker was. It is heavy and is worn but is a nice looking helmet. I have worn it for a for troops. I would consider selling it as I am either going to do that or use it as a decoration.
Retrofire Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Regarding your Altmann’s you don’t need to do any mods for basic. The only mod I had to do for Lancer was install the correct elevator bolts. I think Steve has addressed that now in his lids so you may not have to do anything to it if you decide to apply for Lancer. I love my lid it’s light and comfortable. 1
BikerScout007 Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 That other lid you have looks like a Cucblack Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
BlitzJaeger Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Well Lancer is mosty about fitment to you, and less about mods to the suit (although there are some). For starters, fix your knees mate! Just turn them correctly and make sure they line up on both sides. You could also stand to lose a half inch or inch off those shoulder pads (starting from the bottom) then round the corners using Pandas tutorial. Or I can show you how if you message me on facebook. Either way, your suit is in fairly good order over all. Give lancer a shot, it may not be as hard as you think and you wont know what they ask you to fix till you try! Might as well know eh? Another thing on glasses: Try putting padding on the forehead, this pushes your head towards the back and makes room for your glasses.
