NCwerewolf
Dear Diary... ....kidding. But not really. This is gonna be my very first WIP thread and I'm starting off where all great adventures start. At the beginning. I'm going to be as detailed as possible, not only for you lurkers, but to kind of give myself lead time trends and to record the order of how I put this bad boy together. Bear with me and feel free to comment, question, examine, joke, etc. The Army never issued me any feelings, so we're good to go. I hate reinventing the wheel and/or wasting time so I encourage participation, even if it's a smack in the back of the head. As of today, I have the following orders placed to kick this thing off: On 09 January, I ordered boots and the cummerbund / pouch combo from Cheesewhoopy up there in Rhode Island. Very customer service, much communicate, excite. 13 January, I ordered the vest from Chrisx909x out in Cali after reading good things about him and getting a recommendation from BikerScout007, whom I am rapidly learning is The Man (capital letters). About the same time, I put myself on the waiting list for Strider's armor. I'm 27th on the list. Thusly, I begin my journey to become a "speeder biker" as we called them in the '80s. lol This has been a long time coming and I think I may actually be vibrating with excitement.

NCwerewolf
I was shopping for suede and sewing supplies today and realized that I am way out of my league. Neither my wife and I know how to sew and we'll be hard pressed just to handle all the straps and velcro, so once again BikerScout007 comes through with those famous words... "Chris makes those." Lol. So I ordered a flight suit from Chrisx909x today as well. I know, I know. I'm pitiful. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
khazara
Great start to your build! Regarding your inability to sew, you could always use this opportunity to learn! That's what I did. Bought a used sewing machine for $65 and watched some you tube videos. Made all my own strapping and even took in the legs of the suit & modified the collar myself. It was not that hard and picked up a very useful new skill. :-) In any case you will love becoming a scout and we look forward to you joining us!
Tomob419
Agreed! Great start, and I second what Todd wrote here. I was reluctant to attempt the sewing but an inexpensive machine and some YouTube education went a long way.
NCwerewolf
Woot! Shizzle's gittin rizzle, nizzles!! First orders came in today. Buncha straps and whatnot and my WW gloves. Based off of thread research on here and the general consensus, I ordered them one size up from my usual, and I'm glad I did. They are indeed snug, but not uncomfortably so. These things are nice quality too. I may hafta take 'em out for a ride, lol. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk I've got a running thread comparing the currently available holdout blasters. NCwerewolf
Thanks for all the well wishes. Feelin better, so I've begun to get dirty with the helmet (you can see progress on my helmet build thread). The big news for the day is that my boots and bund arrived from Cheesewhoopy. I'm inexperienced with the small nuances and details, but to me these things look awesome. They are the first major items I have that are complete, so there is no need for my fatazz to model them for you guys yet. I'll wait until I get some of the other stuff so we can collectively compare fitment and plan adjustments. NCwerewolf
Oooo...things are starting to look like a real costume now. I recieved my vest and flight suit from Chrisx909x today and I gotta say, looks real cool. I immediately tried verything on (of course) and am very pleased with fit of both. Plenty of room in the suit and vest for twisting, turning, squatting, sitting, and hugging. Lol Arms raise up comfortably, and my weirdly shaped shoulders traditionally have problems with wearing items right off the shelf. There might be just a slight bit of snugging up and loosing required in certain minor areas to look nice and sharp, but nothing serious or complicated at all. Overall, I'm quite happy. I forgot how much I hated new boots, though. Gottdang, them suckers are tight on my hoofs. Lol. Hopefully, they break in okay. I've never had dealings with this brand of boot. They better cooperate. cheesewhoopy
The boots should break in pretty well. Ive been wearing mine for over a year right now and they're super comfy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
