Removing the zippers from Esprit gloves. How?

What's the correct method for removing the zippers? There are two seams to cut but this also separates the front of the glove from the back. Is this the way to go and then sew the front and backs together again?

 

Or is the visible part of the zipper simply cut away leaving the seams intact?

I just did this earlier this year. You just cut the fabric holding the zipper in. No need to tear the glove apart.
