ForesterDesign
Hey guys - as many of you know the Studio Creations Scout Helmet comes with a completed "dome" top. Once you ABS weld the back of the helmet to the cap, there's a lip where the two pieces meet. Of course, with other vendors this is a non-issue due to the middle-split, but what have other scouts done with their SC helmet? Do you fill the lip and buff it down? or leave it? If you have some photo references of this specific part, that would be awesome. I just got my BBB yesterday and am thrilled to get started but definitely want to make sure I do it right. 762s
i have not built a sc you will be ok for basic approval. but, if you going for lancer then that will be the only time you would need to worry about the gap in that location. but, even then they say its optional ... umm, really? lancer specs says... "- Helmet. No visible seams on the dome. - Optional but recommended. For the 'Back and Cap' style bucket constructions, the join around the top of the dome must be as flush as possible. Best practice would be to fill this seam so it is not visible. The screen used helmets did not have a join in this area due to a different construction method." and well, if you really want to fix it regardless of going lancer then i would think a bondo type filler then sand and paint the entire helmet would work imo, i would not use apoxie sculpt or softer type fillers as i think they will crack eventually good luck with the build
clonecollector
I once had an SC helmet and I used white silicone caulk to hide the seam. It was a cheap and quick fix. The only issue is making sure the white caulk matches relatively well with the ABS.
