Visor/Face Plate help

Just want some of you to weigh in before I glue this thing together. How much space should there be between the top of the face plate (above the eyes) and the front lip of the visor? 1fea97a0d9da0b8305338b3a9ef41151.jpg567bcaae31fe4d53cf1ba3d1787c172f.jpg453cd61303480989fa57d8f1c04c7c19.jpg

The side of the face and the visor line up a bit better than that last pic, the magnets slipped a little before I took it.

im not sure about the other helmets out there.

so, ill speak on what i know ... what the originals and the rs have is a spacer above the visor. here is a rs pic

NOTE: the wtf helmet dimension may be different!

You should still do the same .. as well, add a small piece plastic on the lip where i marked in red.

now, ideally what you want is on the profile is to have a straight line with the visor and the face plate. it should match the helmet angle!!

i marked your picture in red for reference .. the red line should be straight and inline with each other

what i do is install the spacer in the visor .. tack the upper faceplate to the visor and then work the side of the faceplate and side of the visor to get a nice straight angle.

you may need to cut the face plate on the lower edge(red line) to get a straight line .. i have to do that on the rs's !!

also, pay attention to the ear part on the faceplate .. it should line up with the side/horizontal line on in the inside of the visor.

hope that helps some .. and again, your helmet may need different size spacer

Thanks for the info! So are you saying the spacer is a third piece in the visor? Or just on the bottom side of it? The WTF visor has plenty of plastic to not need a spacer for width, but I have seen many use an extra piece on the underside to help hold it together. I'll also be using Devcon to fill the seam, per Walt. It was amazing to work with for putting together the two halves of the main helmet.

And that red line you marked, for some reason, my magnets slipped a bit before I took the pictures, it lines up much better than what is shown. May need to trim some more though so it doesn't have as much stress on it and it stays in place better.

yes, the spacer is just an extra piece under the visor(bottom side) and put in place for supporting the 2 halves of the visor.

the reason i suggest the other extra piece marked with the red square is that return edge/vertical edge of the visor flange has nothing to support it either.

heres another thought with the visor, not sure if walt shows it or if the faceplate is similar ... i found out after my first build when the visor cracked when lifting it multiple times.

make sure your support the under side there too behind the faceplate. i actually built this area up two small strips of plastic. the first piece lays flush with the faceplate and the second piece lays on top of the first piece and lays over onto the the faceplate.

and well, it seems you are on the right track with the side profile, i wouldnt do any cutting to the bottom face plate area till you have that all together and can place it up on the helmet to see how the visor/helmet lines match up.

good luck with the build and keep us posted
