First off I will openly say I will be importing my full build thread over once I’m approved, I know I should have leant more on you guys than my local garrison but honestly could not be bothered with posting the same thing multiple times during the process. So without further ado, here we are: 01876972a3d60f533738872bbf63fa09.jpg557cc5f8d8d2d364b196cd6c29dbecc9.jpg6ca2baf49e9372e285eab9ddc3c7f201.jpg234338752791285030e023bd7c8f0e8d.jpg44416f37bb43c17ad06d08f785c9efb4.jpgb75de25c352c8583a8a906ea5661836c.jpg

Please note the bike is in my back courtyard not on a public road, pretty sure I’d be done quite quickly under our harsh (but safe) Australian road laws haha

Morning AJ,

Firstly, love that bike. Really must get my R75 sorted and on the road!

Not a bad build there buddy. I think for the most part it's all there for a basic submission.

I'll address the costume as if we were talking Lancer just because I think that is what we should be aiming at.

Let's go top down.

Are the helmet visor bolts grey? They look to be still silver, but that may be my eyes.

The shoulder bridges look long. If there is an option to shorten them down to cover the gap, then I'd do so. They ideally want to be about 1-2". (not a basic clearance issue).

Shoulder armour strap should be 12mm.

Chest/back side straps should be 40mm cotton not the 50mm elastic (not a basic clearance issue)

Pull the cummerbund up a touch, ideally you don't want any black showing over the top of the bund around the chest plate area.

Bund closure at the back isn't central.

Level the pouches up so they fall a bit more in line with the ribbing.

Bring your main belt up an inch or so, so it meets the bottom of your pouches.

Loosen your crotch strap a bit, this will reduce the camel toe on the cod section.

Centralise the belt with your bund... it's ever so slightly off. This twists the belt boxes and makes them look off kilter.

Belt box height is good, leave that well alone, but you might want to level them out front/rear.

Flight suit is a bit baggy, you might want to consider pulling it in around the legs a bit (turn it inside out and run a new seam).

Add the upper knee strap to the knee plates.

Cut the indents in your boot soles, and the tubes could be a little closer to your knees.

Now that looks like a long list, but most of it is just a bit of window dressing and strapping adjustment. So it's not as harsh as it sounds.

Its practically there for basic (helmet bolts for definite), but you're right... Getting over here first would help eliminate most of those problems. We're here to help.

Good luck with your submission.

Thanks for all that feedback Chef! I guess we will wait to see what my GML says overall. I decided a little while ago not to go to lancer, as someone put it to me “those screen used ones were only designed to last a few weeks†- I have been thinking of durability and practicality as best I can with my build :-)

Definitely take on board everything you’ve said about the bund, think I might add a bit more material to the top of it (have already added Velcro to secure it to my vest so it doesn’t drag down)

Will talk with my seamstress about the legs on the undersuit, will that potentially muck up the riding patch? - planning on pinning it then trying it that way before actually doing the seam

You shouldn't need to add any material to the bund. Just pull it up a few inches.

You may need to lengthen the crotch strap to accommodate, but that should be about it.

You'll just have to reposition the pouches a little and have them sit slightly lower on the bund itself rather than being right at the top of it.

You can get Lancer and it still be perfectly durable/practical. I am sure there are many here who will attest to abusing their Lancer grade scouts over the years with little to no ill effects.

Likewise, taking in the suit shouldn't present too many problems, just run the new seam up the outer edge of the suit. That shouldn't interfere with the riding patch too much.

You will probably need to take in the thigh straps as a result. But again, that's much easier than mucking about with the riding patch as a whole.

For certain pin it in place first. Run a line of pins down the outside to get the look and make sure it's all still comfortable.

Then just run the new seam all the way up to the waist line and anything left can be hidden away under the belt/bund.

Ok Chef, got the legs taken in, let me lay this out for you ;-)

Looks much better. Now, move the shoulder bells up more. The gap should be like no more than 2-2.5” in most cases.
