Question-With buying the Redkap jumpsuit, you plan on folding up the collar and making some kind of attaching via hook and fastener?

Are the Redkap’s approved this way or just with collar flipped up alone?

I’m looking to buy soft parts first myself and want to not spend on something that’s not gonna pass.

Thanks for doing this wip, appreciate you sharing with us.

With the redkap you’ll need to make a “mandarin†collar. You can use the fabric from the pockets that will be removed from the suit to make it.876d17dc5e28e6bd868e80cbd9c05bb0.jpg

Making progress on my armor - so far i have all the armor trimmed and smooth, arm and knee armor strapped, back/tank mostly built...just picking away at it little by little when i have time, BUT, I am having a rough go with the helmet.

Below are some images, if anyone has any advice on where to go or what might be wrong..please let me know!

1. I assume a decent place to start is aligning the shrouds to the facemask is with the line shown here:

- If i simply do this to both sides, and clamp it to surface labeld 1, the shrouds angle inward way too much

zbIwVMe.jpg

- If i straighten out the shrouds, such that its straight in the front it puts a lot of stress on the facemask, but i assume enough glue will take care of it

2. If i align the hinge and outside body lines, the lower jaw portion of the facemask is significantly lower than the base of the helmet. Since that is dictacted by that line shown in #1 and the top of the facemask, I'm not sure how that can come up properly. This is my biggest concern at this point.

3. Here are a few more pics to see whats going on.

Unrelated to alignment - for the slots in the rear of the helmet, seems like the pull was not entirely clean, so will i just need to rebuild the final slot with bondo?

Well I’ve done a really poor job at updating my WIP and took me longer than expected but I submitted my app pics yesterday. I think I have everything up to Lancer spec except the tube on the thermal det. Still doing some troop ready mods adding Velcro and magnets to keep things in place anf. eventually plan to weather when I find the time.

I think you have done a good job with almost everything! but one thing that stands out is that cumberbund. It needs fixing. It's way too long (since the pouches look like they are the right size.) And due to this your belt is sitting too low, there should not be that big a gap between the bottom of the pouches and the bund.

Is your codpiece attached to the bund? If so you might need to do some adjustments on that aswell. This is the look you are going for.

Also I would adjust your drop boxes so they sit closer to the belt and move your pouches out a bit, there should be a gap between the stich lines on the bund and the pouches.

Great advice! I definitely see what you are saying. Luckily, should be easy fixes. Cod piece is velcroed to the bund so I have plenty of adjustability there.

So I know there’s not supposed to be a gap between the belt and the cumberbund but should the belt go over the the bund or just under it?

Yes, it goes higher than a normal belt. I put mine so that it’s right below the navel/resting on my hips rather than the waist.

The bund should end at/touch the top of the belt.

Much better. Those small adjustments made a big difference.
