Question about 850 Armor Works abdomen

I have an old 850 kit that I bought from someone else. While looking through tutorials, a lot a builders show the abdomen and sides as one piece with a gap in the back that they zip up and put the back, middle plate over to hide the zipper.

 

My kit has a front and back with the middle back plate as part of the ABS back. How are other troopers assembling their abdomen area with this style kit?

I just finished my build. Same kit. I ended up buying some plastic from plastruct.com. with the extra plastic you create a extension piece. The extra back piece goes right in the middle to hide the seam.

What did you use to create a nice curve so it keeps the correct shape?
