Chopper
So, I put my SC armor together long before my Altmann helmet arrived. I ended up using the Altmann helmet and SC armor for my 501st Pathfinder submittal and was approved with no issues. Some problems came up when I started weathering my armor. I tried to use Gino's scout as a paint guide and used the misting technique from Strider's Lancer build thread. Here's the problem that I encountered -- the SC abs plastic is slightly pinkish and the black misting seems to have made my armor take on a purplish hue. In contrast, the misting on my Altmann helmet seems to have made it look more yellowish. So, what to do here? LIve with it? Strip my armor and helmet and paint them both white? Wait until I finish my RS props helmet and paint that and the armor? Have others had similar issues? How did you all deal with it? It's almost impossible to capture the purple vs yellow tint in a photo, but I tried.
762s
you cant unsee what you have seen! i can tell there is a difference ..not the color you mentioned but, the armor looks darker white than the helmet i think your right as far as painting them all at the same time ... at least you would have the same color white over all your pieces. i dont know if abs will change paint color over time .. but, maybe a stain blocking primer wouldnt be a bad idea for a base coat if you decide to respray all them good luck! Digger
It's been quiet here a while, but, any news on how this went or tips on how to fix this?
Chopper
Well, it think it all boils down to how OCD you get about the details... I did end up sanding and repainting my armor to match my helmet. Did some weathering once the white paint was dry. I haven't put in my Lancer app yet (soon!), but it turned out pretty well I think.
