Cod and mudflap.

I have a few questions about the cod/cummerbund and their positioning:

1. If I position the cummerbund where the top edge goes under the breastplate, the codpiece looks oddly elongated and does not quite make it all the way to the inseam. Does the belt make up for this, and does the belt have to cover the bottom edge of the cummerbund (or can it be just below)?

 

2. My jumpsuit has the mudflap already attached, where/ how should the 2" elastic (running between the legs) from the cod be attached? (Directly under the flap, cut a hole in the flap to bring the Velcro above the beltline...etc.)

 

3. Is it common to attach Velcro to the cummerbund/ jumpsuit to ensure the cummerbund stays in position on the jumpsuit?

I'm not a pro, and just got approved myself. But I want to be an active member of this forum and help out as much as I possibly can. So I will try to answer the best that I can ( and if I screw up, the Armoury Team will come along shortly and straighten things/me up haha)

 

1. Don't really know what elongated means, but If it is what I think it is, you mean that the cod is slightly tighten/doesn't go all the way down? Anyhow, I would try to position the bund just bellow the chestplate and see if that does the trick. If I remember correctly - I've seen some reference pictures where the bund is actually just bellow the chestplate. Maybe that will compensate with the length of the codpiece.

 

2. Mine was sewen on the inside of the Cod so no stitches are visible. And the other end of the elastic is fasten with velcro on the inside backside of the cummerbund.

 

3. Yes! Biker Scouts are known for the amount of velcro we use Well, if you don't have to use it, then don't. But if you feel the need for using velcro on the inside of the bund and on the flak vest to keep it in place - then by all means, do it

The belt lies on your hips, not where a belt would go on say a pair of pants.

 

The current theory is that the cod is separate from the bund. I, along with many others, attached the cod to the vest in front, while the elastic goes down and around to a clip connection. The other clip is attached via a strap seen to one flap of the back of the vest.

 

The elastic strap goes over the butt flap. Do not cut anything!

Still working on the mudflap situation, the elastic should go under and not over the flap (looks funny).

Today is day 2 of my build; finish helmet and start strapping the armor. Then locate and stitch Velcro to the jumpsuit.

The 2" black elastic should go over the mudflap. It keeps it from flapping around.
