Weathering test

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to give the spray paint weathering method a go for while, just to get a little more authentic look. I did a test on this tk backplate I had lying around and am wondering what people think. I don't wanna botch my scout up if it doesn't quite look right. 4ce58d65663724688f917126867b47b8.jpg

Looks about right buddy.

The trick is "less is more".

Weirdly it'll look heavier in person than it does on a picture (no idea why!), so if you can see it but it's not too heavy in the photos, then you've probably got it just about spot on.

Exactly. That's the tough part is finding the proper balance, don't wanna over do it.

Nice work. I'll be keeping an eye on this, as I plan on doing some similar weathering once my dome gets in.

I recently redid my weathering using the spray method & scratched it up a bit. Just waiting to do pics to see how it looks on camera. As Rob said, it tends to look lighter in pics.

Flash , lighting etc. Also , white armor can sometimes look over exposed.

It looks heavier in person, but I hope I got the balance right for pics.

Don't be scared and just go for it! Or send it to me and I'll do it for you ;)

After this weekend I think I'm gonna go for it. Yours came out so good! I gotta get on that level.
